Transforming the Future of America's Health Care
About us
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is one of the largest purchasers of health care in the world. Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provide health care for one in four Americans. The United States Government does not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, membership in an employee organization, retaliation, parental status, military service, or other non-merit factor. Federal agencies must provide reasonable accommodation to applicants with disabilities where appropriate. https://www.cms.gov/about-cms/careers-cms/diversity-equity-and-inclusion

It’s #NationalPrimaryCareAwarenessWeek. #PrimaryCare is the foundation of a high-performing health system. Primary care doctors often have long-term care relationships with patients and their caregivers, making them more alert to health changes. They may also serve as an “entry point” to health care for a patient without a clear diagnosis. The CMS Innovation Center has invested in several models (pilot programs) to strengthen primary care. Check out this infographic: go.cms.gov/pc-graphic. For more information about primary care and how it’s important for your health visit the Primary Care Key Concept: go.cms.gov/pc.
