The Chemonics-implemented USAID Feed the Future Uganda Strategic Investments Activity (SIA) was honored to join other USAID implementing partners to host Daniele Nyirandutiye, the USAID Mission Director in #Uganda, at Grainpulse Limited! The event gathered 100 guests from USAID, the private sector, government institutions, and the media to emphasize the pivotal role of the #PrivateSector in the transformation of Uganda’s grains industry, driving #EconomicGrowth and #innovation. Director Nyirandutiye commended the accomplishment of Forna Health Foods Limited, the SIA-supported producer of the innovative and nutritious "Aunt Porridge," which has greatly impacted the health of infants, children, breastfeeding mothers, and immunocompromised patients and families. The enterprise has not only contributed to improved immunity, but has also created employment opportunities, with 70% of its employees being youth and 78% female. Director Nyirandutiye addressed the important role of the Grain Council of Uganda in fostering close collaboration between its members, the private sector, and other stakeholders and reaffirmed the continued commitment of the U.S. government to supporting Uganda’s grain sector. Addressing challenges such as poor infrastructure and climate change will continue to ensure the availability of high-quality agricultural inputs and support food security across Uganda! 👏🌾
