📍Welcome to World Business Chicago HQ: tech and innovation delegation from the #CzechRepublic! 🇨🇿 Czech Republic President Petr Pavel is visiting #Chicago this week, after attending the United Nations General Assembly (#UNGA). Presidnet Pavel is the keynote speaker for the Václav Havel Lecture Series by the University of Chicago. 🌎 #Chicago and #Prague are sister cities, via Chicago Sister Cities International. We had a fantastic roundtable to learn more about the innovative companies in the delegation, World Business Chicago’s work, and opportunities for partnership and collaboration. Shoutout to our good friend Vice Consul Monika Boksova of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic/Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic! 🤩 As always, I’m so proud of the amazing work by my colleagues Karissa Perez, Nina Goad, Adrienne Tongate, Anel Montes Marchan, and the World Business Chicago Global Strategic Initiatives team. We had the great honor to kick off our SACC Summit Chicago 2024 with welcoming remarks by Governor JB Pritzker. His inspiring speech on Sweden’s important economic role in Illinois started an exciting day filled with insightful discussions on leadership, gender diversity, cultural differences, collaboration between public/private/academia and corporate creativity. Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s Summit hosted together with SACC-USA (Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce), Karin Hammar and her team. With support from our generous sponsors, dedicated board members and talented interns, we networked and shared ideas on the bright future of Swedish-American business! 👏 On behalf of all of us at World Business Chicago: congrats SACC Chicago (Swedish American Chamber of Commerce Chicago), led by Executive Director Maria Loew and Board Chair Carl Kallen, for hosting the National Swedish American Chambers of Commerce Summit in #Chicago! ✅ 100+ private sector executives, public policy experts, academics, and leaders from across the #UnitedStates and #Europe in #Chicagoland for the two-day conference. 🌎 Chicago and #Gothenburg, #Sweden are sister cities, since 1987 via Chicago Sister Cities International. ⭐️ I’m so grateful for my rockstar colleagues Maya Meade and Adrienne Tongate for the opportunity, and for all their amazing work by Team Chicago Sister Cities International at WBC. Their impact has been instrumental to #Chicago’s role as a leading global city. What I shared: 💡Chicago (and sister cities like Gothenburg) don’t need to the be the next Silicon Valley. Chicago just needs to be the best Chicago, and the world can’t compete with our best. 💡World Business Chicago is reimagining #economicdevelopment to be more inclusive, innovative, and values-driven. An innovation-driven, growth economy lives in the hearts of minds of the students, neighbors, entrepreneurs, and innovators who make it happen. 💡The next great era for economic development: cities that have the best strategies when it comes to building a green (#sustainability, #climatetech, #newenergy) and blue (#waterinnovation) economy. We need to take cross-sector collaboration to the next level, drive investment in the commercialization of climate technologies, and strengthen innovation ecosystems to address climate challenges. Cities must propel our workforce, industries, and businesses toward an equitable, clean energy future. ⬇️ Learn more via link in comments.
