About us
At Children’s Hospital Colorado, we know that kids aren’t just mini adults. They’re in a chapter of life unlike any other and deserve incredibly different care to match. That’s what drives our distinct, thoughtful approach to pediatric healthcare. It’s not just about the treatments we offer, but how we offer them. Our work has earned us a spot among the best children’s hospitals in the nation, and we proudly provide exceptional care to kids and families across Colorado and the region. Our goal is to ensure that every child receives personalized care that blends deep expertise and experience with compassion and a special understanding of what kids need to heal. Our commitment to children fuels us, but our team members make our achievements possible. Without a culture that prioritizes the beauty of difference and the importance of a thriving workforce, we cannot provide the kind of care we strive for. By allowing each team member to explore their passions, find flexibility outside the office and succeed through collaboration, we continue to reach new heights in pediatric health. When you work at Children’s Colorado, you’re joining thousands of team members representing the full spectrum of pediatric specialties and professional roles. Our system of care includes four pediatric hospitals, 10+ specialty care centers and 1,300+ outreach clinics. And from day one, you’ll play a critical role in making a difference for the children and families we serve. We’re proud of how far we've come in realizing our mission, but our work is far from over. Every moment of every day we are telling new tales — of kids overcoming difficult odds, of heroic team members changing lives, of everyday people finding their calling and making it into a career to be proud of. Aspen, like many kiddos with autism and anxiety, hates getting her blood drawn. That’s until she earned her black belt in our Conquering Hatred of Pokes (CHOP) Program. Our Developmental Pediatrics Program created CHOP to de-sensitize children with autism and neuro-developmental differences to needle-related procedures such as vaccines or blood draws. Over eight weeks, Aspen worked with our experts on specific goals to make these medical procedures easier and earned “belts” to put on her karate avatar. “She’s gained several skills that have given her the ability to calm her body and mind not only with a lab draw, but able to transition that into real-life situations, as well,” says Aspen’s mom, Vanessa. Today, Aspen is a black belt and has not only successfully completed a blood draw but has conquered her hatred of pokes. We’re all so proud of you, Aspen!

Our caregivers love to reconnect with the families they cared for in our Aurora NICU at the annual reunion. We’re pretty big fans of unicorn tattoos, as well. Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us! #HereItsDifferent

Dr. Karrie Villavicencio always knew she was meant to be a doctor. It wasn't a question of whether she'd pursue medicine, but rather what specialty she'd choose. During her residency, she discovered her passion for pediatric cardiology while learning to diagnose heart disease in children before birth. Today, as a fetal and pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Villavicencio spends a lot of time with her patients and families. From birthdays to graduations, she is with them every step of the way. See how Dr. Villavicencio supports her patients throughout their lives.
