About us

Children’s HealthWatch, founded in 1998, is a nonpartisan network of pediatricians, public health researchers, and children’s health and policy experts. Our network is committed to improving children’s health in America. We do that by first collecting data in urban hospitals across the country on infants and toddlers from families facing economic hardship. We then analyze and share our findings with academics, legislators, and the public. These efforts help inform public policies and practices that can give all children equal opportunities for healthy, successful lives. Our research is grounded in the experience of pediatric researchers who see first-hand in clinics how economic conditions and public policies are reflected in the health and well-being of their youngest patients. Our network of pediatricians and public health researchers collects data on children up to the age of four in emergency rooms and clinics at Boston Medical Center, the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore; the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock; Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis; and St. Christopher's Hospital in Philadelphia.

  • The #ChildTaxCredit has been a hot issue since the 2021 expanded CTC expired in 2022. Parents, advocates, and researchers are fighting to reinstate the #CTC that benefitted 90% of kids in the US during the COVID-19 pandemic. Children's HealthWatch research shows a fully refundable, inclusive CTC reduces levels of food insufficiency and child poverty, promotes health for children and families, and allows parents to provide essentials to their kids. This year, the Senate failed to pass a tax bill that would have reinstated the 2021 Child Tax Credit, even though the House passed it. That's why it is so essential to vote in every election for every office. Research the candidates on your ballot to see if they support policies that will help support you, your family, and your community.

  • Your right to #vote is one of the most important rights you have as a citizen. When you vote, you are not just voting for a person; you are voting for a team and an agenda of policies. Make sure the candidate you vote for is campaigning in favor of your interests. This is especially important for parents, as you are voting for both yourself and your children, who cannot vote. Take a look at the policies Children's HealthWatch has proven help children and their families and cross-check them with the policies the candidates in your area support. Remember: an educated voter is a successful voter. Make sure you research ALL the elections on your ballot this year so you can make the best decision for yourself and your family. #GetOutTheVote #Election2024
