Happy National Intern Day! Today we'd like to take a moment to recognize our 2024 intern class: Oscar Sotelo, Yamilet Perez-Ruiz, Joseph Shamaon, Emad Alkhashani, George Anthony Goce, Justin Royal and Lydia Vulich. These dedicated individuals have shown great enthusiasm and eagerness to learn throughout their time with us. They've integrated well into our Roadway, Structures, Construction, Marketing, and Water Resources teams, making this summer productive and enjoyable. We appreciate their contributions and see potential for their future careers. As they return to school this fall, we wish them continued success in their studies.

We are excited to welcome Michael Siffer, PE, PTOE to our Team as Roadway Senior Technical Lead! Mike, a graduate of the University of Toledo, brings over 30 years of experience in roadway design and traffic engineering. Mike will be based in our new office in Fort Wayne and will be a key addition to our Indiana Team. As an integral part of our Roadway Group, Mike will have a key technical role in working on providing preliminary and final engineering to our clients in various states. Mike is currently the Vice President of the Great Lakes District of ITE Board.

Today Ciorba Group, Inc. we recognize and celebrate the national holiday, Juneteenth.

Ciorba Group, Inc. "breaking ground" thanks to The Walsh Group - Walsh Construction & Archer Western for this very challenging and complex bridge design for the reconstruction of NB I-294 on the Illinois Tollway. An over 30' proposed tangent shaft, high wall, abutment on a bridge with an incredibly large skew (62 deg). Design considerations include complex geo-structural interaction utilizing computational geotechnics and constitutive modeling along with full 3D finite element analysis to assess short and long term behavior of the structure with highly overconsolidated clays. Ciorba Group, Inc. had the opportunity to value engineer the bridge substructure, changing out the originally proposed, traditional, high wall cast-in-place concrete abutments with tangent shaft cut wall abutment. At bridge skews like this inclusion of soil-structure interaction becomes critical to the overall design. Construction is moving fast and we look forward to seeing the rest of the plan come together and continuing to flex Ciorba Group, Inc.'s muscle in construction engineering, complex structural design and geotechnical engineering. 👏 Congratulations to Michael Kowalski, PE, Senior Construction Manager at Ciorba Group, Inc., for completing the IRTBA Emerging Leaders Program. This program brought together professionals from across the industry and provided the opportunity to interact with established leaders and network with fellow emerging leaders in the program, with the hope of continuing its efforts to advance and promote the future of the transportation industry. Mike just returned from Washington D.C. where he got to meet with national leaders and legislators! Well done, Mike!
