FastCo Most Innovative + Certified B Corp + Earthshot Prize Finalist 🌍 Protecting the planet from the cost of clothing

About us

2023 Earthshot Prize Finalist on a mission to protect the planet from the cost of clothing. At Circ, we’ve created a technology system that returns clothes to the raw materials from which they were made. Again and again. Brand partners like Patagonia, Marubeni, and Fashion For Good are joining us in our goal of turning wasteful fashion lines into renewable fashion circles. By 2030, we expect to have recycled 10 billion garments, represent 10% of the global apparel market, and to have saved more than 100 million trees. As our ecology and economy grow evermore entwined, it is clear to us that the world already has all the clothing it needs to create all the clothing it will ever need. Join us in threading together the future of circular fashion and eliminating our collective fashion footprint.

Circ® just made its debut on the New York Fashion Week runway. Celebrated American fashion designer Christian Siriano chose Circ Lyocell to create two stunning looks as part of his Spring-Summer 2025 Collection reveal at the Pierre Hotel in New York last night: a full-length black trench coat and an edgy wide-leg pant with accompanying bra top. The collaboration marks the first textile-to-textile recycled fibers from polycotton blended waste ever showcased at New York Fashion Week. Christian didn’t just choose a fabric - he made a statement. We couldn’t be more grateful to have partnered with a designer who is not afraid to push boundaries to prove that luxury can be circular and sustainability must be #FASHION. Fashion month is over for another season – but how is the industry doing from a #sustainability perspective? Although the topic might not be as front and centre as it has been in previous seasons, it has been promising to see a growing number of brands incorporating more eco-friendly fabrications and practices into their collections, as well as pre-loved fashion getting a moment in the spotlight. See my key takeaways below, featuring eBay, The Or Foundation, Diesel, Ganni A/S, Circ®, PYRATEX®, Stella McCartney and many more. https://lnkd.in/er8nuXTb

Feeling so energized and hopeful after NYC Climate Week 2024!🌍 It’s easy to feel overwhelmed these days, but when you're surrounded by innovators and change-makers, you realize: the solutions are already here, we just need to get them on a fast track to scale. Here’s how we connected, learned, and grew over the past week: 🌿 Took part in The Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit and met the newest cohort of visionary finalists alongside Mike Bloomberg (Bloomberg Philanthropies). Congratulations to all! ♻️ Connected with other #EarthshotPrize finalists at the Innovation Camp full of workshops, trainings, and networking opportunities with investors to challenge, stretch, and build upon our ideas. ✨ Our own Arshiya Lal participated in a panel alongside Vestiaire Collective Samina Virk The Or Foundation and moderated by Sophia Li at an event put on by the ever-inspiring Dana Davis (she/her) at The Explorers Club (where we got to show off the stunning Mara Hoffman dress again)  🔗 Connected with investors, motivated brands, innovators, and change-makers. Events included "The Future of Fashion Breakfast: Technology Leaders Working To Accelerate Circularity" hosted by Molte Volte, Alternew, and Beni, as well as "Breaking Silos for a Sustainable Fashion Future" with Faherty Brand, Alternew, and Redyoos. Progress is happening! Let’s keep pushing forward. #circularity #sustainablefashion #textileindustry #nycclimateweek

Excited to introduce the incredible 2024 The Earthshot Prize Finalists! These innovators are driving real change that will affect us all. In November, five of them will receive £1 million to scale their climate and environmental solutions, but every finalist will benefit from technical support and a global network of partners to help take their impact even further. To this year’s finalists: you're in for the most incredible journey. The people who may now seem like strangers will soon become lifelong allies. While you may come from different industries, there’s a common thread connecting you—saving the planet, solving the biggest problems, and making the world a better place for future generations. https://lnkd.in/esHRyq44

At Circ®, we’re a traveling bunch. And that includes Senior Director of Product Development Sean (Hsun-Cheng) Su and Senior Technical Project Manager Veronica (Vee) Dols, who recently spent three fiber-filled days in Austria, connecting with industry thought leaders while soaking up the latest in circularity solutions, fiber innovation, and emerging tech at the Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress. We're grateful for the annual Dornbirn-GFC – it offers an incredibly important collaborative avenue for us, because we know even the simplest of conversations can take root and grow into truly global #circularity initiatives.

As NY Climate Week is fast approaching, I’ve been reflecting on last year’s The Earthshot Prize. Being named a finalist was an incredible moment for Circ® —one that brought game-changing connections, fresh perspectives, and the kind of momentum we’re still riding today. I look forward to meeting the new cohort which will be announced next week. Get ready! You’ll be joining a global community of leaders and experts working to solve some of the planet’s toughest challenges. The opportunity ahead of you is huge, and I can’t wait to meet you all next week. This is just the beginning!

“Seeing Circ® materials make their debut at #NewYorkFashionWeek alongside a visionary like Christian Siriano is a testament to the transformative power of innovation in #fashion. This collaboration not only highlights the elegance and potential of recycled textiles but also underscores our commitment to driving a more sustainable and circular future for the industry. It’s exciting to see such groundbreaking technology embraced on one of the most prestigious runways in the world.” – Circ CEO Peter Majeranowski.  For all of us at Circ, #NYFW was an experience with so many high points that it’s already made every one of our “End of the Year” lists. But it’s important to note that our year, and all of our years leading up to now, have been filled with long hours of hard work – including both setbacks and inspirational moments – that haven’t been seen or celebrated. So to everyone on all our teams, as well as the companies, mills, and designers we partner with, and who care about the planet as much as we do, thank you for putting in the critical hard work, day in and day out, helping to establish a true circular economy in the fashion industry. And to be completely transparent and remain oh so circular, we intend to come back to Fashion Week – again and again.

We tend to focus attention and most of our ire at the Trash Fashion side of the industry. But this great reporting from Sarah Kent points to a more appropriate framing: Big Fashion. This is the part of the industry, no matter the price point, that puts short term profit maximization above all else, every time. Big Fashion is the same as Big Oil, Big Ag, Big Plastic, Big Tech. For business leaders, the stakes have recently become clear. We are moving beyond empty promises. And now we're deciding what comes next. Some of the old Big industry players may want to stick their heads in the sand and continue to line their own pockets while socializing all of the costs to the rest of us. But the companies with great leaders, they are standing up and ready to be something different, to create models that truly operate within planetary boundaries and that don't exploit people to get there. They are leaders that know that this is hard work, that it's not all unicorns, fairies and win-win. But it is about innovation, law, and the future, and that that future can look bright and just. I look to leaders like: Cotopaxi, Annie Agle, Dana Davis (she/her), Stella McCartney, Rothy's, James Rogers, Everlane, Reformation, Vestiaire Collective , Ganni A/S , Abrima E., Alex Faherty , Lisa Diegel, Patagonia K. Corley Kenna., ThredUp, Houdini Sportswear, Circ®, Archive , Evrnu®, SPC, Alchemie Technology Ltd RTV ReturnToVendor and I believe it's there in others, even the largest public companies. The fight is Big Fashion v. the Future of Fashion. The question is now, which side are you on?

When fashion icon Christian Siriano stepped forward with two new looks using Circ® Lyocell as part of his Spring/Summer 2025 collection – creating difference-making garments people could actually see and, more importantly, touch – it was “a moment” for us. Witnessing our materials walking the runway at the epicenter of high fashion that is #NewYorkFashionWeek was a dream come true. With Christian’s commitment to sustainability in full bloom during #NYFW, along with other designers and fashion companies continuing to follow suit, it’s easy to see how an industry-wide movement of conscience and belief in #sustainability is gaining critically needed momentum. More importantly, it's a movement that invites everyone involved – from mills and vendors to designers and, especially, consumers – to more fully commit to a #circularfashion economy, with everyone playing their part. We couldn’t be prouder. Thank you, Christian.
