A big thank you to The Earthshot Prize and Herbert Smith Freehills for convening a terrific catalytic capital roundtable in London today. The discussion focused on the challenges facing innovators—and how catalytic capital can accelerate industrial, hard-tech climate solutions. It was energizing to see such a diverse group of mission-driven investors from across the capital stack in one room. Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems (ATS) was proud to join alongside fellow Earthshot Finalists LanzaTech and 44.01. Thank you, Lewis McDonald, for expertly chairing the event, and to everyone who contributed to such a thoughtful dialogue. Excited to keep the momentum going—together. #CatalyticCapital #ClimateInnovation #ImpactInvesting #EarthshotPrize #Sustainability #HerbertSmithFreehills #London Doug Hudson Louisa Tholstrup Anuradha Bajaj IFM Investors Carbon13 Standard Chartered Planet First Partners Climate Investment (CI) BlackRock European Investment Bank (EIB) Arup Hitachi RBC Capital Markets Holcim Holcim MAQER Ventures IVF Capital Michael Klimbacher Cindi Bough Giacomo Rossi Andreea Constantinescu Puja Balachander Freya Burton James Woolner Mathilde Carraro Dylan Doran Kennett Cormac Tennant, MCMI Felipe Padilla Gomez Jemima Bruin-Bland Paul Taylor Charlie Lyon Carroll, CFA Michael Sado David Fein Matteo Yoon Nikesh Arya

Financing the Future of Decarbonization Innovative climate technologies are essential to achieving net-zero but too often they stall at a critical growth stage due to funding gaps. First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) deployments, despite their game-changing potential, struggle to attract capital due to perceived risks. Herbert Smith Freehills recently convened Earthshot Finalists and key investors to explore how catalytic capital, through blended finance, performance-based incentives, and public-private partnerships, can bridge this gap and unlock private investment. Featuring Earthshot innovators: Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems – 2024 Winner, turning industrial waste heat into electricity with zero moving parts. LanzaTech – 2022 Finalist, transforming captured carbon into useful materials. 44.01 – 2022 Winner, permanently removing CO2 by mineralising it into rock. By deploying catalytic capital effectively, we can accelerate the commercial rollout of these solutions, ensuring they don’t just exist but scale fast enough to make a real impact. How can investors and policymakers work together to close this funding gap? Join the conversation.

Congratulations 44.01 for two years of incredible work in the UAE! Learn more about their carbon mineralisation process: https://lnkd.in/eqC_ntTp
Marking two years of operations in Fujairah, UAE! Two years ago, we started work in the UAE. Since then, we have transformed an empty plot in the mountains of Fujairah into Asia’s first DAC + Mineralisation project, and gone on to reach the final of the XPRIZE with Aircapture. Thank you to our partners ADNOC Group, Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) for their ongoing support. We’re looking forward to continuing to scale mineralisation in UAE. #UAE #4401
