Today we celebrate the fourth anniversary of the opening of the City's Brundage Lane Navigation Center! Through the BLNC we've been able to help hundreds of individuals experiencing homelessness. Since the BLNC opened on Oct. 26, 2020, 400 individuals have been placed into permanent housing! The continued success of the BLNC would not be possible without the amazing work by our friends at Mercy House Living Centers! On the latest episode of The Something Better Podcast we speak with Mercy House Regional Manager Theo Dues, who was at the BLNC on Day 1! (Before Day 1, actually!) The next episode of The Something Better Podcast is scheduled to drop this week on all of your favorite podcast platforms. Be sure to catch up previous episodes: bit.ly/48b7dVQ

The City of Bakersfield was recently ranked as the second-safest for pedestrians in the United States by a Forbes Advisor study. The City, our Public Works Department and the Bakersfield Police Department continue to improve the safety of our streets, sidewalks, bike paths and trails through initiatives like our Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program, Safe Routes to Schools, and our Active Transportation Plan. The City's continued efforts toward pedestrian safety is thanks in part to efforts of the Multi-Modal Transportation Committee and Complete Streets policy improvements. #PedestrianSafetyMonth
