About us

The City of College Park is home to the world's busiest airport, the Federal Aviation Administration’s second largest nationwide facility, Chic-fil-A’s corporate headquarters, and Woodward Academy - the largest independent private school in the nation. College Park, Georgia is a city of planes, trains, and automobiles with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, CSX, and numerous car rental facilities within our city limits. College Park is Georgia's global city and a true air transportation gateway - "The Future of Business in Georgia". HISTORY Manchester, established in 1890 and incorporated in 1895, became known as the city of College Park in 1896. The city has 853 properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior. The city's name came from being the home of Cox College (where the city hall and other buildings now stand) and Georgia Military Academy (now the Woodward Academy). The east-west avenues in College Park are named for Ivy League colleges, and the north-south streets are named for influential College Park residents. The College Park Woman's Club, one of the oldest in Georgia, is located in Camellia Hall on Main Street.

    The City of College Park is pleased to announce College Park Police Department Officer Camille Smith as All-Star of the Month. Ofc.C.Smith consistently goes above and beyond every shift, demonstrating exceptional professionalism with citizens and her fellow officers. As the senior officer on her shift and a dedicated Field Training Officer, she takes on many roles, including volunteering to train new hires and handling duties that aren’t even assigned to her. She also fosters unity among her team, often using her own resources to create goodie bags filled with supplies for everyone on shift. She balances multiple responsibilities, from patrol duties to occasionally fulfilling jailer duties, all while maintaining a positive attitude and displaying outstanding leadership skills. Recognized as one of the department’s best Field Training Officers, Ofc.C.Smith is truly a guiding force for her peers. Her colleagues view her as a leadership figure who embodies the city's core values: HOSPITALITY EQUITY AND INCLUSION ADVANCEMENT LEADERSHIP TRANSPARENCY AND PROFESSIONALISM HARMONY Let's congratulate Ofc. Josie is the first legislative intern to work with a Councilmember in 10 years! She is a rising sophomore at the The University of Alabama majoring in Political Science and Management Communications. This summer, she is shadowing Councilwoman Jamelle Mckenzie. Also, meet Martha Gonzalez. Martha is a senior at Georgia Southern University , majoring in Computer Science with a concentration in Cybersecurity. Passionate about technology and cybersecurity, she aims to make impactful contributions in the field. Martha also likes mentoring and creating solutions that support organizations' missions, as well as coming up with bright ideas to help the community as a summer legislative intern in the office of Mayor Pro Tem.
