🔥 How One City Manager is Transforming Her Team—and Her City Claire Powell, City Manager at City of Lewisville 🔥 1️⃣ Empowering the Team: Claire isn’t shy about giving credit to her team. Her LinkedIn feed is often filled with photos and recognition, highlighting their great work. https://lnkd.in/gkDY4zx2 This is the hallmark of a strong leader—amplifying your team so they, in turn, amplify the work. Under her leadership, City of Lewisville takes pride in developing and promoting talent from within. Claire mentions that "In Lewisville, we have grown our admin assistants into analysts, managers, and one even retired as an assistant city manager." 👏 2️⃣ Spearheading City Projects: Among many of the initiatives that she has brought to success, one that she is the most proud of is: "In 2018, we learned that over 400 kids lived in poverty within this neighborhood and they had zero parks within walking distance. When we realized this, our whole city jumped to action and built something magnificent just at their doorstep. Almost every Lewisville department touched this project. The opening was one of the proudest moments of my career." Details: https://lnkd.in/g3yY6U7w How amazing is that. 👏 3️⃣ Leadership Mindset: Being a City Manager is a tough job and we all need a break from time and time and its mandatory that we do. But often, if our leaders themselves don't prioritize "life" before "work" it becomes challenging for the teams. But Claire, understands the value of unplugging and celebrating life. One of the quotes she share was "Almost everything will work again, if you unplug it, Including you." by Anne Lamott It is a marathon not a sprint, and we need to protect our long term health to keep going. Unplug to survive and perform better. - LOVE this Mindset. ___ 🏆🏆🏆: Claire has been with City of Lewisville for over a decade. She become the City Manager in 2022 and as she was appointed, Mayor TJ Gilmore said, "She cares deeply for the community and is a strong leader,” Gilmore stated in the release. “Her ability to analyze issues and build collaboration to solve unique problems will serve Lewisville well as our new city manager.” ___ ✨ Let's join to give Strategage #ShoutOut to our trailblazer leader Claire Powell as she inspires her team and other females in local government. __ Civic leaders work wonders behind the scenes, whether it's through public service actions, sharing thought leadership content, supporting the community, or driving strategic initiatives for residents. To celebrate their incredible contributions & unique initiatives, as part of our #ShoutOutFriday series, we highlight one outstanding city leader every week. #localgovernment #cityleaders
