TAKE THE BIKE FRIENDLY COMMUNITIES SURVEY Earlier this year, we applied for a Bike Friendly Communities designation through the League of American Bicyclists. As part of this process, we are asking residents and visitors to take this survey to identify how the City can improve bicycling facilities. We are looking for all types of respondents and users; from residents who regularly bike, visitors, residents in surrounding communities, or commuters who rarely bike. All are welcome! JOIN A MONTHLY MEETUP WITH CITY MANAGER ANETTE SPICKARD Starting in August, our City Manager Anette Spickard invites residents to participate in a new program, called Monthly Meetup with Anette, in which once a month, you can sit down with Anette to discuss any topic of your choice. Residents are welcome to ask any question, bring up any concern or raise any issue they would like to talk about, with the goal of the program being that residents have direct access to the City Manager. The program is scheduled to occur on the third Tuesday of every month and will be held in the Green Room of the Sedona Public Library. The August and September dates are as follow: ·       August 20, 4:00 - 5:30 pm ·       September 17, 4:00 - 5:30 pm Spaces are limited. CITY SET TO LAUNCH SEDONA SHUTTLE CONNECT ON-DEMAND TRANSIT As part of an initiative to build a robust transit system, on August 29, we will launch Sedona Shuttle Connect on-demand transit service. This app-based, Uber™-like service will provide rides to and from destinations throughout the defined service area (shown in the map) which includes much of West Sedona, Uptown, Tlaquepaque, Hillside and the Sedona Shuttle Park and Ride lots. Residents and visitors will be able to request rides using the TransLoc app on their smartphone or by calling the Sedona Shuttle hotline at 928-203-5152. The cost per ride will be only $2, or $1 for seniors (60+), persons with disabilities and others qualifying for the discounted fare. Sedona Shuttle Connect will operate Thursday through Sunday from 6:30 am-6:00 pm. It will also operate daily during peak periods such as spring break and some holidays, including Labor Day. “Sedona Shuttle Connect will be a huge plus for seniors and persons with disabilities who live in Sedona and don’t drive or prefer not to. They will be able to use it for social and recreational trips that Verde Valley Caregivers is not able to provide,” said Verde Valley Caregivers Executive Director Kent Ellsworth.
