The Seguin Police Department received double the recognition last week when City Manager Steve Parker presented one staff member with an Employee of the Month Award and two with a Making a Difference Award. CONGRATULATIONS to Lance Wright, Lt. Of Criminal Investigations, on being selected as the city's Employee of the Month for May 2024. Lt. Wright is an exceptional leader and team player who never hesitates to take on additional tasks when needed. Over the past year, he assumed two additional roles while supervising the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) to help fill a vacancy that was left when the C.A.S.E. Unit was being developed.  He sets an inspiring example in his role at Seguin PD through the trust he has built among the CID team. He does a wonderful job of providing updates at weekly meetings and ensures his team that they can lean on each other if help or guidance is needed with their cases. Kudos to Mental Health Peace Officers Martina Wissmann and Gus Jiminez for being selected as recipients of the quarterly Making a Difference (MAD) Award! The duo was honored for their exceptional professionalism, compassion, and unwavering dedication to individuals in our community and surrounding areas who experience acute mental health crises. Martina and Gus' approach provides critical support and makes a profound impact on the well-being of those they serve by offering a beacon of hope and understanding.

Courtney Toliver, Human Resources Generalist, received an unexpected birthday gift this afternoon when City Manager Steve Parker presented her with the Employee of the Month award for July! While assisting with an interview over the summer at the Seguin Animal Services Center, Courtney's attention to detail, quick thinking, and compassion resulted in helping save the life of a shelter animal. When she was at the shelter, Courtney took the time to observe the dogs and quickly alerted staff to a large amount of blood in one of the kennels. The dog in question was Lilian, who had undergone surgery a few hours earlier. After the animal emergency, Courtney continued to assist with the interview. Her ability to handle a crisis with professionalism and then seamlessly transition back to her HR duties exemplifies her dedication and versatility. Help us congratulate Courtney and wish her a very happy birthday!
