Earlier this week, we had the honor of swearing in 31 passionate residents to serve on eight City boards and commissions! The City’s boards and commissions serve an important function, and these resident volunteers will conduct a deep dive into specific subject matters that are important to the community before providing recommendations to help City Council guide development, future needs, regulations, and more for Coppell. These volunteers are dedicating their time and expertise to help make the community the best it can be, and we are so grateful! Please join us in welcoming our newest board and commission members! Learn all about our boards and commissions at coppelltx.gov/boards.

The City of Coppell recently celebrated the best day of the year, Bring Your Dog to Work Day! Employees and their four-legged friends enjoyed treats, giveaways, a mini paw parade (that was more of a chaotic frolic), contests, and even a yoga session. Employees had a chance to get out of their offices, get to know one another and meet all of the furry friends, and share some laughs. Plus, research shows that petting and interacting with a dog can lead to a reduction in the stress hormone cortisol while also boosting levels of oxytocin, the bonding and love hormone. It was a PAWsome day!

For nearly 30 years the City of Coppell, its residents, and businesses have participated in the annual Make a Child Smile holiday program. This initiative helps connect deserving Coppell ISD students to generous organizations and individuals across our city. Last year more than 200 students received gifts from benefactors, and this year we have more than 300 students in the Make a Child Smile holiday program.   At the time of this post, 50% of our Make a Child Smile students have gifts for this holiday season, but we still have more work to do. Help keep the giving spirit alive by visiting makeachildsmilecoppell.com and help make a student's holiday this season!   If your business would like to make a financial donation or sponsor a group of students, please reach out to us at info@coppelltx.gov.
