October has been one big #PartyToThePolls at Impactual LLC! I'm SO proud of what our team has accomplished while supporting the Civic Responsibility Project's #PurpleTour this year. Seeing super young, diverse crowds of 1,000+ people march to the polls with Yung Gravy, Kerry Washington, Lil Jon, Quavo, Bill Nye -- and then stand in line for 2-3 hours to vote!! -- has been truly incredible. 🎉 🗳 ✔ 💃 And yes, we *have* stayed and partied alongside all the voters in line until the last person casts their ballot, serving up treats from Pizza to the Polls -- so we do know the conversion rates of party goers to voters is hiiiiigh! We are thrilled to announce Harvard Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation has published a new report authored by our founder Ashley Spillane on the influential role that celebrities can (and do) play in promoting civic participation in the United States. The study, Celebrities Strengthening Our Culture of Democracy, explores past efforts by celebrities to promote civic engagement. For the report, we spoke with 15 managers, publicists, nonprofit partners, philanthropic advisers, and celebrities themselves about civic engagement initiatives undertaken by Taylor Swift, Kerry Washington, Billie Eilish, Trevor Noah, Hailey Bieber, David Dobrik and Questlove. This report helps employers understand how to promote a healthy democracy in a tense time in our country - and is a great complement to the work of some of my former colleagues at Civic Responsibility Project and Civic Alliance. Businesses play a critical role in preserving our democracy, and a fair playing field where all voices can be peacefully heard is truly good for business.
