If we embrace this novel strategy around the globe, we will both slow climate change and reduce the harmful effects of extreme heat, particularly in our urban heat islands.
Reporting from the Big Apple, Climate Resolve presented Enlisting Sunlight in the Fight Against Climate Change at Climate Week NYC on Monday. The event—attended by 200+ policymakers, community leaders, business leaders, funders, and scientists—highlighted the global cooling co-benefits of cool surfaces. Climate Resolve continues to amplify the message that cool surfaces, despite their immense potential, are currently underutilized in the fight against global climate change. This message was the key takeaway of the Enlisting Sunlight event and serves as the driving force behind the Shine On Initiative and the recently published Shine On White Paper. When speaking about the global, unlocked potential of cool surfaces, Climate Resolve Executive Director Jonathan Parfrey said, "There actually is something new under the sun.”

Check out Part 2 of #flanigansecologic Climate Resolve Series, featuring Enrique Huerta, Legislative Director at Climate Resolve. Enrique brings strong skills in #policyanalysis and #collaborationbuilding to the organization, focusing on #climatechange, #adaptation, and #resilience to champion #equitableclimatesolutions. Prior to joining Climate Resolve, Enrique advocated for historically #marginalizedcommunities through his work as a #community #greenspace #organizer. As the Legislative Director at Climate Resolve, Enrique Huerta forms #strategicpartnerships with other statewide organizations, cultivating relationships to move #legislation. He is a master of #buildingcollaborations, doing the work on the ground, knocking on legislators’ doors, often with parties who have different agendae, bringing in potential #coalitionpartners to the state capitol to #advocate on behalf of #extremeheat and the need to #adapt to this rising threat. He and Ted discuss Climate Resolve #extremeheatbill, which is one of the few that actually looks to help #marginalizedcommunities #adapt today and focuses on #societalfixes. Enrique shares how his experience of #communityorganizing opened his eyes to the #resilience that lots of these communities have, and how #communitycohesion is already in place - and often #womenled. https://lnkd.in/gGJiz_Z5
