Meet Libby, our spirited volleyball captain and a leading member of our Something Social crew. She’s a quick-witted and innovative thinker who thrives on challenges. When she’s not crafting her next big design, you can find her cycling, hiking, or enjoying time with her dog, Finn. Today, she’s giving us insight into her creative process in this interview! On why she chose her profession... "I grew up in a family of Engineers and Medical Professionals, so I didn't really know about architecture until senior year of high school. My older sister told me I was too creative to follow her footsteps as an Engineer and that I should try Architecture. At the time, my high school was being renovated by a local firm which helped piqued my interest. After shadowing the Architect for the project, I decided to give it a try and haven't looked back since!" On what inspires her... "I'm inspired by people - both the people I work with and the people for which we design. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work with very talented people who have mentored me and shown me what it means to be a great Architect. I'm also inspired by the people who inhabit the spaces we design. At the end of the day, we are designing for people. Every decision along the way influences the user experience and how someone will interact with the project. Understanding this and keeping it at the forefront of my mind inspires me every day to design and to design well." On what project she's most enjoyed working on... "I really enjoyed working on Aura 509 in Durham. As one of my first projects I was able to work on from schematic design through construction, it was fun to see the project come to life and maintain its parti throughout the whole process."
