What the MATIC ➡️ POL upgrade means for CoinTracker users We want to keep you informed about a recent update to your Polygon Labs (MATIC) assets and share how CoinTracker will handle these changes to ensure your crypto tracking remains accurate. As of September 4, 2024, Polygon has transitioned from using MATIC to POL as its main token. Here’s what you need to know… 🔹 For Polygon PoS users: MATIC will be replaced by POL automatically. CoinTracker will ensure your account reflects this change by creating a transaction to represent the conversion from MATIC to POL for existing wallets and for any new Polygon PoS wallets added in the future. No action is required on your part. 🔹 For Ethereum and Polygon zkEVM users: You have the option to manually convert from MATIC to POL. When you choose to upgrade your tokens, a transaction will be created to reflect this change, and CoinTracker will accurately track and update your records accordingly. 🔹 For exchange users: If your assets are held on an exchange, the change to POL will be managed by the exchange. CoinTracker will synchronize with these changes automatically. If you have staked MATIC: 🔹 Staked MATIC will be upgraded to POL automatically. There may be additional steps for staked tokens, and we will monitor and adjust our records as needed. ❓ So what do I need to do? 🛑 No action required: If your assets are on Polygon PoS or an exchange, you don't need to take any action. CoinTracker will automatically update your records. 🏗 Manual upgrade: If you hold MATIC on Ethereum or Polygon zkEVM, you may choose to manually upgrade to POL. If you do, CoinTracker will reflect the transaction and track the change. If you decide not to upgrade, we will continue to track your MATIC holdings accurately.
