One big advantage of building your store on Shopify is that they are constantly rolling out improvements. You pay the same amount of money per month, but you're getting more bang for your buck as time goes on. However, some work is required to be able to take advantage of all the innovation that they roll out. Without a savvy in-house developer or agency partner, brands can miss out on the full power of their subscription. We recently helped a client update to Shopify 2.0 so they'd have a much wider range of theme customization options. The first thing we tackled together within the new architecture was a simplified customer navigation experience. The original menu layout didn’t fit on a single row, so we redesigned it to provide cleaner, more intuitive browsing - then we brought two of the brand's core offerings into focus: Interior Design, and Event Planning. With the menu redesign now shining a spotlight on the brand's design portfolio, we leveraged Shopify 2.0's ability to create more dynamic, flexible layouts and spun up a mobile-friendly catalog of past work. Teeing up new site functionality ahead of BFCM (within the estimated budget, no less) was a big win for our team and the brand. We look forward to seeing what other improvements we can make together!

Most A/B tests result in a tie, or at best a small fractional increase in conversion rate that can be stacked on top of other small wins to eventually get a big result. But sometimes you get a big win off the bat, and we're psyched to share this one with you! Eliminating the Quick Shop functionality on a Shopify Plus brand's PLPs led to an increase in conversion rate of nearly 10%. For this merchant, that's a potential $900K in added revenue per year. What would it mean for your business if you increased your CVR by 10%? Coldsmoke x Visually

Many ecommerce site redesigns fail to deliver the desired results because they lack a clear purpose and measurable goals. Instead of just changing the look and feel, we tell clients to take a data-driven approach to identify the site's true pain points and opportunities for improvement. ___ Check out whether a redesign is right for you: https://coldsmoke.co/

Getting your entire team on board with a new ecommerce platform can be intimidating or a scary thought when considering a migration. Mark recently joined a panel discussion with Hailey Bosma from Sid Mashburn (Coldsmoke client) to discuss their migration from Magento to Shopify Plus. Hailey shared how Shopify's user-friendly interface was huge for her team and a huge improvement over Magento, particularly when it comes to managing the site day to day or adding in new functionality through the App ecosystem (watch below to see how they very easily generated > $1 million through one app alone!)

When it comes to website redesigns, we've found that the best place to start is focusing on/understanding your goals. Then, focus on 1-3 KPIs that will move the needle on those goals. To do this, we analyze the data (Google Analytics, heatmaps, session recordings, etc.) to see where customers are getting stuck or frustrated. This helps us make smart design choices that move the needle for our clients.
