Thank you, New Energy Nexus California for hosting us at the first-ever #NEXLevel event! Tanya Barham said it best: "Wow, California. I always am blown away by the economic, policy and innovation powerhouse that the State of California is. I really appreciate the efforts that states and local governments are making to lead our country forward on innovation, community engagement, policy and critically on working with trades, manufacturing, education, and workforce development to address mistakes and identify new opportunities to strengthen local workers, economies, businesses and communities." Can't wait for next year.
This past Thursday, we had the pleasure of bringing together 160 of the brightest minds in California’s clean energy ecosystem for our inaugural NEX Level event. Entrepreneurs from all over the Golden State convened with policymakers, funders, and clean energy experts to share clean energy resources and success stories in Berkeley. We proudly showcased the new CalTestBed Cohort, PowerForward grant awardees, and leaders who’ve navigated the ecosystem and seen success through CalSEED and beyond. After a few days to distill all the great content, we’ll be rolling out videos from some of our sessions, so stay tuned. Thanks to our partners Momentum (BuildMomentum.io) and the California Energy Commission for making #NEXLevel possible.

⚡ Congratulations to these 46 newly-funded clean tech innovators! Washington State Department of Commerce funded our Microgrid Bus Barn and Hoquiam projects, and we're huge fans of their work. (Read more about these projects at https://lnkd.in/gUwmS-3z!) Jennifer Grove Michael Furze
Commerce today announced a $37 million investment in 46 clean energy projects across Washington. The grants are funded by the Climate Commitment Act with additional state funding to boost clean tech innovation and support planning, design, and construction projects. “The wide range of projects funded reflect the state’s overarching climate goals to create economic opportunities and jobs, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, increase power supply reliability and resilience, reduce emissions, and strengthen the clean technology supply chain,” said Commerce Director Mike Fong. 🎥 WATCH: Jennifer Grove, managing director of the Energy Programs in Communities unit, discusses the clean energy grants and additional announcements coming soon. ☀️ Congratulations to Elemental Impact on their new name and their exciting new fund launch! 🎉
At my daughter’s kindergarten open house this week, her teacher unveiled the theme for the year: Growth Over Time. “The important thing isn’t where you start or where you end up,” she told us. “What’s important is that you grow every day." In this same spirit of growth, I’m excited to share two milestones today: 1. We are renaming to Elemental Impact to mark our 15 year anniversary and our expansion to a broader investing platform, and 2. We are launching a $100M funding program and opening applications for entrepreneurs to access capital from the US EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. Read about why we're renaming, and our plans for this next chapter as we continue to support projects with deep community impact https://lnkd.in/g4KgYtCj I am so grateful to our team (check them out below... they were kindergarteners once too!), partners, and teachers -- and each and every one of YOU who has contributed to this journey 💚 One of my greatest teachers, the late Pono Shim, wrote me a note a few years ago about learning and the practice of aloha. He said: aloha and leadership aren’t something to know but rather something to struggle with. It is like a martial art: we learn a move and practice, learn a new move and practice, and practice and practice and practice until one day there are no more moves, only movement. This is our definition of Growth Over Time. Avra van der Zee, Melissa Uhl, Lauren Tonokawa, Mike Jackson, Ramsay Siegal, Austin Blackmon, Matt Logan, Brianna Rodrigues, Christina Angelides, Sara B.
