The Community Foundation addresses our region’s opportunities & challenges alongside our donors to increase prosperity.
About us
The Community Foundation of St. Clair County improves the quality of life in St. Clair County by meeting the broad philanthropic goals of our donors through the creation and administration of permanently endowed funds. These endowed funds – restricted, unrestricted, advised and field of interest – allow the Foundation to support a broad variety of community development programs and projects. Using our organizational assets we enhance the spirit of philanthropy in St. Clair County and identify opportunities for collaboration which help transform our community – both the people and the place – by compounding the resources of our donors and the efforts of the "doers" (people who make things happen) to increase regional vibrancy and prosperity.

Our Legacy Society members enjoyed one another’s company at Mannina's Italian Restaurant and then saw Fiddler on the Roof at Thumbcoast Live Theaters last week! We love opportunities like this to thank those in our community who have thoughtfully planned to give back to our community through their estate and the Community Foundation. Their foresight and dedication is truly inspiring and appreciated! To learn more about our Legacy Society: https://lnkd.in/ggpWv56E
I love nights like we had last week with our Legacy Society members! For the past few years, we've put together a fun social outing to enjoy the company of those who have made the greatest gifts for our community, a planned gift through their estate. These amazing folks have vastly different interest areas, all love the work of our Foundation, but most of all want to give back after they’re gone. We so appreciate their forethought and have so much fun being together! It was a great evening of cheers and a show at the Boardwalk Theater! See some of the fun here: https://lnkd.in/ey3ypzKC

Our Vice President covered several charitable topics on WPHM this morning with guests, Janal Mossett, Ryan McCann and Iggy Villalobos. You can listen at your leisure on the podcast link below…
What a fun morning of guest hosting on WPHM! I had great guests to chat about celebrating 10 years of the Bluewater Riverwalk, that estate planning conversations can actually be fun, our local Veterans services, mental and physical health, plus giving back from your IRA! You can replay each of the episodes here: https://lnkd.in/gDd43bxR

The downtowns of both Port Huron and St. Clair are enjoying the economic impact of recent placemaking projects which lure young people, couples and families to just hang out and linger. These placemaking projects; McMorran Plaza in Port Huron and the Riverview Plaza Courtyard in St. Clair – are prime examples of the economic theories behind placemaking.
Placemaking... something I'm proud to say our Foundation has done well with numerous local partners. And wow are the impacts noticeable for our downtowns! Community Foundation of St. Clair County reposted this
"We’ve woken up to the realization that 'scholarships' are not the goal nor are they truly what our donors wanted. Student success is the goal. Supporting a student throughout their college career is the goal, as long as we keep our eyes on the prize – graduation." - Randy Maiers Three cheers to the Community Foundation of St. Clair County and its challenging of the "sacred cows" of traditional #scholarship programs. This article is a great way to kickstart a conversation about your #communityfoundation scholarship program. https://lnkd.in/ev5tbb9E
