About us
A place where the coffee is house-roasted, the food is intentional, and the service transforms. The team is made up of individuals from all walks of life that have a passion for transforming lives. As a top restaurant in the Queen City region, Community Matters Cafe sits in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina. The name starts the story, but as you enter the revitalized industrial space you experience a welcoming place to gather for coffee and your favorite book, for breakfast in our dining room, lunch with a friend, or business meeting in our community room. The coffee, food and space says a lot, but there is more to tell. Community Matters Cafe is more than a place to dine, it’s a life skills program for students graduating from the Charlotte Rescue Mission…here, we restore hope. The true focus of Community Matters Cafe are the students in the 180-day life skills and rehabilitation program at Charlotte Rescue Mission. With the support of staff members who guide, train and work alongside students to serve the community, students experience the stressors of a restaurant as a way to practice and implement the life skills needed to transition back into daily life. Our students rotate through various positions in the restaurant and coffee shop, allowing them to add to their skill set while affirming their confidence in themselves and the community around them. While addiction does not discriminate, a common factor we see is a detachment from the community. At Community Matters Cafe, we welcome you to join us in restoring that hope.

Today, we honor the brave Americans who met the terror of September 11, 2001 with extraordinary acts of courage and sacrifice. In our darkest hour — when terrorists believed they could bring our country to its knees — those Americans proved that our Nation's unbreakable spirit would prevail. Today we are offering free coffee to first responders and military, let us know if you have served in either capacity and we will be happy to serve you ☕ 🇺🇸

Beautiful Saturday morning in Charlotte to get out and run a 5k supporting Charlotte Rescue Mission and Community Matters Cafe. Community Matters Cafe serves more than coffee and food — it's a place to restore hope. The cafe serves as an extension program of Charlotte Rescue Mission, a nonprofit organization that provides free, residential recovery services to men and women struggling with substance abuse and homelessness. The cafe is celebrating its 5th year in operations and was launched as an idea coming out of SVP Charlotte presents SEED20! Great seeing my Perficient colleague James (Jim) Clementi and my fellow Leadership Charlotte alum Andrea Skidmore!

It was terrific to participate with #MicheleAmoroso and Patti Weber on the Social Venture Partners Charlotte team at the inaugural "Community Matters 5K" on Saturday morning in Charlotte. Community Matters Cafe is a ministry of the Charlotte Rescue Mission that provides residential recovery programs at no cost to help those struggling with the disease of addiction. The café's purpose is to provide graduates of the Charlotte Rescue Mission's core program with additional life skills inside the living laboratory of a working restaurant. Also great to catch-up with Amy C. Horner, CPA, MBA 9️⃣ and Raj Merchant! https://lnkd.in/gKCA_vib #CharlotteNC #Nonprofits #CommunityMattersCafe #CharlotteRescueMission #SVPCharlotte #SEED20 #AddictionRecovery #Race #5K
