🏗️🌟 We’re proud to celebrate the opening of the Charlotte Rescue Mission’s (CRM) new Beaty Center for Transformation! This 73,221-square-foot facility, a joint venture between Rodgers and R.J. Leeper Construction, is now providing a safe space for men in our community to transform their lives. A key highlight of this project is the success of the workforce development program piloted during its construction. Launched in December 2022, this program, led by Rodgers, RJ Leeper, and CRM, has provided comprehensive skills training and direct-hire opportunities in the construction industry for CRM graduates. The program offers extensive instruction in essential trades such as HVAC, electrical work, drywall installation, and painting, ensuring participants receive top-notch training aligned with industry standards, effectively preparing them for the job market. We're proud to have placed 13 CRM graduates into careers in the construction industry, surpassing our goal of 10 placements. One of the most rewarding aspects of this initiative was the opportunity to work alongside a client who shares our mission—to build communities with care. Collaborating with CRM allowed us to align our goals and amplify our impact, creating a stronger, more cohesive effort to uplift and transform lives within our community. Who is your Chad.....? 12 years ago I was involved in a tragic car accident that took a man's life. God showed up by bringing Land Hite into my life as a mentor/friend. Land poured into me when I needed it most. He has done so for over a decade now. Land asked me to be a mentor/friend to his son Charles Hite "Chad". Chad became more than a mentee, he became a friend. Chad started pouring into me the past 3 years. Mentee pouring back into Mentor. In the same way I was pouring back into my mentor, his dad Land. Chad spent the past 3 years taking his past pain and adversity and using it to be the fuel and place he found his Purpose and Impact in life. - He worked to help other men struggling with addiction at Charlotte Rescue Mission. - Was going to Central Piedmont Community College to obtain education in addiction recovery and mental health. - Ran a podcast, The Rabbit Hole, sharing stories of adversity to triumph. He gave us the perfect example of Adversity fueling Purpose and Impact. Chad passed away 6/10/2024 at 33 years old. Check out his LinkedIn page which highlights the legacy that he was seeking to leave us all. "Live a life of significance, make a difference in the world." Who is your Chad in your life? Who is the Land in your life? Find yourself in the story OR go be the Chad or Land to others. RIP Chad. Always remembered. Thankful for your friendship. #motivationalspeaker #personaldevelopment #men #mindset #purpose

Meet Christopher. Christopher's life started with a strong support system, though it was a bit unconventional. He and his sister were mainly raised by their aunt because their mom was a single parent struggling to make ends meet, and their dad was never around. Those early years with his aunt were filled with stability and love, giving him a real sense of security and belonging. Things took a turn when Christopher moved in with his mom during his teenage years. Even though she tried her best, she couldn't provide the structure and attention he needed. Christopher began to feel resentful, especially since he thought his sister was treated better. This led him down a rebellious path. He started getting into trouble, which eventually got him expelled from multiple schools. With no school willing to take him, he turned to the streets, looking for the community and acceptance he felt he lacked at home. The streets, however, were tough.   Christopher never graduated high school and ended up couch surfing from place to place. By his mid-twenties, his drug use escalated to harder substances, marking the start of a dangerous downward spiral. This nearly cost him his son and led to time in prison. After getting out of jail, Christopher was filled with anger toward the world. His drug use got worse as he struggled with his emotions and lack of direction. Eventually, a court ordered him to go to the Charlotte Rescue Mission. But his first time there didn't work out. He wasn't ready to change and admitted he wasn't there for himself, so they kicked him out. The turning point came on Thanksgiving of 2022 when Christopher lost his best friend to an overdose. This loss pushed him to the edge. In his darkest moment, he cried out to God, asking either to be taken away or given a chance at a better life. This was a pivotal moment for him. Reflecting on this time, Christopher said, "I have never been happier to be here to share my story with you." That desperate plea marked the beginning of a big transformation. Determined to change, he went back to the Charlotte Rescue Mission, this time for himself. Tired of the constant cycle of pain and addiction, he committed to the program. At the Charlotte Rescue Mission, Christopher found more than just a way to get sober. The counselors helped him develop healthier coping mechanisms and, most importantly, helped him reconnect with his faith. The sense of community and spiritual guidance he found there played a crucial role in his recovery. Today, Christopher's life is completely different. He has kept a steady job for over a year and is slowly rebuilding his relationship with his son. He's optimistic about the future, filled with hope and determination. The Charlotte Rescue Mission didn't just save Christopher's life; it gave him the tools and support he needed to reclaim it. His journey from the depths of addiction to a hopeful future is a testament to the power of resilience, faith, and the right support system.

This is Jennifer. Raised by her single mom, a dedicated musician, Jennifer's story begins in a small town outside Charlotte. Her father died in a drunk driving accident when she was young, having been behind the wheel himself. Jennifer started drinking at 13, and alcohol gradually became her escape. Despite being bright and determined, graduating high school, and going to college, she later turned to drinking again when her marriage began to unravel, and it consumed her life. "It just got worse and worse," Jennifer recalls. Alcohol numbed her pain and depression, but it was never enough. After surgery, she was prescribed opioids, which she started mixing with alcohol, leading to legal troubles within a year. Desperate, Jennifer sought help at Dove’s Nest, the women’s program at Charlotte Rescue Mission, following her son's advice. "Surrendering at Dove's Nest," she says, "I wanted to do whatever it takes to find sobriety." There, she learned to cope without substances and began to rebuild her life. Now, a year and a half sober, Jennifer works as a case manager at a local treatment center and speaks at the jail where she once served time, sharing her story and offering hope. "I am so very grateful," Jennifer says. She aims to help others find the peace and sobriety she has found. Jennifer’s journey from addiction to recovery highlights the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of support and community. Through her work and story, she continues to inspire others to seek help and believe in a better future. To read the full story, head over to our Instagram and click the link in our bio!
