Connexionz Case Study: Helping Yakima Transit Restore Confidence & Increase Ridership. 📄 🚍 Yakima Transit is the primary mass transportation provider in the City of Yakima, operating a fleet of 26 fixed-route buses along nine fixed routes servicing 623 stops.  Due to ongoing system issues and a lack of supplier support, Yakima Transit requested proposals for a new Fixed Route Onboard Integrated Technology (FROIT) System in August 2023.    Connexionz was awarded the contract to replace DoubleMap and provide Yakima with proven, trusted, and well-supported solutions that deliver valuable and equitable experiences for passengers and confidence, efficiencies, and ROI for the transit office. Implementation: Connexionz's “out-of-the-box” solution includes “Yakima” branded mobile applications for iOS and Android. The public website and application options allow riders to organize very specific alerts/subscriptions for their trips. GTFS feeds are included as standard, simplifying third-party integration.   Led by Project Manager Nune Arslanian, the implementation of Yakima Transit’s (FROIT) System in January 2024 followed Connexionz's proven phased approach from Project Initiation, Solution Discovery and Design Prep, ITS Hardware Procurement and Shipping, Solution Installation and Configuration through to Vehicle Installation, Testing, and Sign-off, Training, Acceptance Testing, and Approval.   Training is key for Connexionz. It was an honor for RYDE Racine to host the 2024 Wisconsin Public Transportation Annual Fall Conference in Downtown Racine. The Wisconsin Public Transportation Association (WIPTA) plays a vital role in advocating for public transit across the state. WIPTA supports transit systems by actively engaging with state and federal lawmakers, sharing best practices across service areas, and addressing key public transportation issues in Wisconsin. Representing 28 bus systems, 43 shared-ride taxi services, 24 associate and affiliate members, and over 2,900 transit operators, the WIPTA conference saw over 200 transit professionals attend its conference at Memorial Hall in Downtown Racine. The conference theme, "Bold History, Bright Future," reflects Wisconsin’s rich public transit tradition and highlights how new technologies are transforming service delivery. Topics such as micro-transit, fare-payment innovations, accessibility technology, and electrification showcased the ongoing modernization efforts across the state. Hosting the conference in Downtown Racine also brought notable economic benefits, with local hotels accommodating guests, restaurants serving hungry patrons, and an opportunity for attendees to tour SC Johnson's Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Administration Building while also experiencing the charm of the Belle City's downtown boutique shops. This successful event would not have been possible without Robyn (Smerchek) Woodward, the WIPTA Conference Planning Committee, and Memorial Hall's 5Kevents.org, LLC team. It was great visiting Golden Empire Transit District (GET), where our technician, Mynor, pictured here with Shane Thompson, was commissioning five new buses and performing a Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI) on their fleet.
