  • 🌟 Board Member Spotlight 🌟 We're so grateful for the service of Ed Spillers, our Vice Chairperson. From Ed: "Serving as the Board Vice-Chair of DABSJ is deeply meaningful to me, as it allows me to align my personal values of love, faith, and advocacy with the agency's mission of empowering and uplifting children and families. As a late discovery adoptee with a lifelong commitment to child welfare, I am profoundly honored to fight for and believe in the potential of every youth, contributing to a cause that is both personal and essential to the well-being of our community."

  • Why choose a career in foster care? "I chose foster care originally with the kids in mind, but after almost 7 years, I’ve stayed because of the parents. Having a front row seat to seeing families overcome difficult barriers and finally getting their version of, “Happily Ever After,” is a gift that will never be lost on me. A career in foster care gives everyone an opportunity to make ripple effects towards making the world a better place. DABSJ has provided me with growth opportunities, relationships I’ll cherish forever, and a voice in an intimidating system. DABSJ doesn’t just speak their values, they act on it; I feel empowered working alongside my coworkers every single day and watching them fight the good fight." It's hard to find the words to convey how truly grateful we are for the dedicated, special relationship Mill Steel Company has with DABSJ. Through 28 years, they have raised nearly $5 million to support our children and families! The legacy of former CEO David Samrick, and everyone who has been part of Mill Steel, is something that has left an indelible mark on our community. If we could put all our love and gratitude into a little glass trophy, we would! Thank you to Baudville for creating this piece to help recognize our special partnership.

  • 🌟 Board Member Spotlight 🌟 Leading the DABSJ Board of Directors as Chair is India Manns, who has served on the Board since 2015. Said India: "I am passionate about the mission, and I love that DABSJ provides safety and care so children can heal from the trauma of abuse and neglect. Providing children with love and stability at the time they need it most is so important. There are many different DABSJ services, but they all have a common thread of life-changing love. "I believe the best way to be a champion for children is through actions, and one that can be so helpful is becoming a monthly donor. Monthly giving is efficient, and it ensures we can spread the love."
