Mary Free Bed, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is the largest non-profit rehabilitation system in the country. Since 1891, Mary Free Bed experts have restored hope and freedom through rehabilitation for children and adults with brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries, multiple traumas, amputations, cancer and other diagnoses, including COVID-19. The combination of more than 100 specialized medical and sports rehabilitation programs and an exclusive focus on rehabilitation enables our specialty physicians and staff to help patients achieve extraordinary clinical results. Shanta Favors, Ms. Wheelchair Michigan, toured Mary Free Bed this summer. After her tour, we talked about her journey from working in health care to being the patient. She lives with a spinal cord injury, but nothing gets in the way of her advocacy. She will be competing this upcoming week in the Ms. Wheelchair America competition for the national title and crown.
