🏆 Direct air capture (#DAC) is the fastest growing carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) sector 🏆 📈 The data is clear: over the past 6 months, DAC has accounted for over a third of all jobs created in CDR with over 700 open roles across 20 countries. 🤯 I remember the days when there were less than a dozen DAC companies. Now, Direct Air Capture Coalition counts over 100, of which 52 have been actively hiring. 🚀 Two companies have been leading the charge: Climeworks and Skytree accounted for a combined 250+ roles in recent months. 👷 As demand grows, so does the need for skilled talent across research, engineering, and implementation roles. There has never been a better time to join the DAC movement and make a tangible impact on our planet’s future! 🔗 Discover current opportunities and explore how you can contribute to DAC’s game-changing role in carbon removal on CDRjobs: https://lnkd.in/dMue5jMs 🗞️ Want to stay up-to-date on the rapidly advancing CDR job market? • Happy Carbon Removal Day! Begun by Jack Sullivan and helped brought to life by TITO JANKOWSKI - AIRMINER, #CarbonRemovalDay is an effort to elevate the vital importance of carbon removal as a primary tool if we’re to usher in a hopeful future. Carbon removal is an integral part of effective climate mitigation and, in the words of the UN IPCC, "essential" and "unavoidable" to hitting our international climate targets. Carbon removal is a core piece of portfolio of climate solutions, and must be pursued as a critical complement to, but by no means a replacement for, rapid, robust, and sustained emissions reductions. As a CDR solution that is measurable, verifiable, permanent, land use efficient, and highly scalable, direct air capture will have a large role to play in achieving multi-gigaton scale removal alongside a portfolio of other carbon removal methods. Check out our Global DAC Deployments map to see where projects are currently operating or being developed: https://lnkd.in/e3rfsabn Scaling carbon removal to the levels the leading climate science has told us will be required, in the limited time we have, will require the best of human ingenuity and innovation and a sincere commitment to collaboration and cooperation. We hope Carbon Removal Day can help inspire others to commit their time, energy, resources, and support to being a part of tackling our greatest challenge. • Deutschland Does DAC! There must be something in the German September air that makes you want to invest in Direct Air Capture! From Berlin to Bavaria, congratulations to DAC Coalition Members, Ucaneo and Phlair Berlin-based Ucaneo closed a €6.75 Seed Round led by Energie 360° and IBB Ventures to build bespoke testing and development facilities in Germany and mature their first industrial scale product. Ucaneo's unique approach to DAC mimics the human lung using membranes to allow the capture and release of CO2. Over in Munich, Phlair announced a €14.5m Seed round led by seasoned DAC VC Extantia, with participation from Planet A Ventures and Verve Ventures, topped up by a €2.5M grant from the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA). Phlair taps into the power of hydrolysers and electrochemistry and to produce acids and bases and low cost. The round pushes them closer to deploying two first of a kind projects in Rotterdam alongside Paebbl and Alberta, Canada in partnership with Deep Sky Congratulations to all those involved! 🌟 We believe that collaboration is the cornerstone of a sustainable future. Today, we are excited to highlight one of our most valued allies: the Direct Air Capture Coalition - a global multistakeholder organization dedicated to advancing DAC as a critical solution for climate change. 🚀 Their support has been instrumental since our inception. By connecting us with key stakeholders and decision-makers, they have broadened our network and accelerated our progress in the carbon removal sector, both in Kenya and beyond. 🌍 As early supporters and advocates for Kenya’s suitability, their efforts have helped raise the profile and legitimacy of DAC technology in the region. This has been vital in building awareness and the connective tissue for our mission to develop and deploy cost-effective DAC technology here in Kenya. 🤝 We are incredibly grateful for their continued support and look forward to achieving even greater milestones together. Thank you, DAC Coalition, for being an essential partner in our quest to tackle one of the greatest challenges of our time. Jason Hochman Aaron Benjamin #DAC #CarbonRemoval #ClimateAction

I'll be attending and hosting two campfire sessions at this years #CarbonUnboundEurope2024 The session will be focusing on the role of coalitions, networks, associations in coordinating and accelerating the development of carbon removal solutions. From advocacy to connectivity, these organisations can act as an auxiliary voice for start-ups whilst providing non-biased advice to governments and policy makers. I'm hoping to share some of my experiences from helping to build Direct Air Capture Coalition and Greenhouse Gas Removal Future Leaders Network ! Join the discussion and help answer the question: In what areas does the CDR ecosystem need more coordination? CO₂RE - The Greenhouse Gas Removal Hub

An productive and eventful August may seem counterintuitive to some but not in the world of DAC. Over the last week: ▶ Heimdal begins operation of #ProjectBantam, the largest DAC plant in the U.S. and 2nd largest in the world. Alongside storage partner CapturePoint LLC, the Oklahoma-based facility which uses passive carbonation of limestone will have the capacity to remove 5,000 tons of CO2/year. ▶ The United States U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management  announced $52.5M will be made available for the Commercial Direct Air Capture Pilot Prize supporting technology developers that design, build, commission, and operate innovative direct air capture pilot facilities capable of capturing at least 500 tonnes of CO2/year ▶ Spiritus completed the filing of a Class VI permit application with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality for its #OrchardOne project, keeping it on track to become the world’s largest DAC facility. Designed to remove 2 million tonnes of CO2/year at scale, the first-phase operations is slated to begin by 2026. ▶  Deep Sky announced they had selected a site in #Innisfail, Alberta to build the world’s first carbon removal innovation and commercialization center, Deep Sky Alpha Labs. The facility will be operational this winter, and will have the capacity to capture 3,000 tons of CO2/year, with room for expansion, via 10 different DAC technologies. DeepSky have also begun pre-feasibility studies assessing the geologic storage potential of Bécancour and Thetford Mines in Québec Stay connected with all that's happening in DAC, here: https://lnkd.in/gPMK6vsj All links are listed in the comments!
