DayaHouston, along with AANHPI advocates from AAPIAgainstGV, was invited to the The White House to participate in a powerful roundtable discussion and share perspectives about the types of gun violence we see in our communities and the support needed. Daya shared statistics on how South Asian DV clients are affected by gun violence both in Houston and across the country. Collectively, we asked the Administration for concrete steps to address issues around gun violence + AANHPI community with both a culturally competent lens, as well as in the diverse languages of the communities we represent. The White Office of Gun Violence Prevention pledged their support and urged us to continue working in collaboration with their Office.
Daya is proud to be part of these critical conversations and advocate on behalf of our clients and their families at some of the highest levels in our nation's government.
