Today, as we recognize “Imagine a Day Without Water” day, let's take a moment to acknowledge the contributions of professionals like Pat Gaylord, PLS, who recently addressed the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water Wildlife and Fisheries in Redmond, OR. On October 8, Pat Gaylord, PLS, Oregon Director for the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) and Geomatics Service Excellence Leader at DEA, testified before the subcommittee. Speaking on behalf of the surveying profession, he highlighted key water-related initiatives such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Hydrographic Services Improvement Act (HSIA), USGS 3D Elevation Program, Snowpack Mapping, and others. Pat emphasized the essential role surveyors play in providing data to protect and improve our water resources, as well as building resilient and environmentally friendly infrastructure. Meet DEA’s new Director of Mergers and Acquisitions, Yaseen Shaik. With over a decade of experience in assisting corporate and private equity clients with their growth strategies, Yaseen brings considerable expertise to his new role with DEA. Yaseen will be responsible for leading the mergers and acquisitions strategy at DEA. In his role, he will collaborate with executive teams, legal advisors, and financial experts to identify and execute strategic mergers and acquisitions that align with the firm's objectives. “Our strategic plan calls for significant growth over the next five years, and this role will be key to achieving this objective. Yaseen’s proven track record in leading successful mergers and acquisitions makes him an invaluable addition to DEA,” said Al Barkouli, DEA Chairman and CEO.

Welcome Kellie Fenton, DEA’s newest Public Engagement Specialist in Oregon and SW Washington. With over 15 years of experience, Kellie brings a diverse background in public engagement, community planning, active transportation, and landscape/urban design. Her expertise will help DEA’s clients meaningfully connect with their community members on a variety of planning and infrastructure development projects.

DEA acquires TranTech Engineering, LLC in Washington! TranTech's team will join DEA, further strengthening DEA’s Puget Sound region footprint. "The acquisition of TranTech Engineering aligns with our strategic goal to expand our presence in the Puget Sound region and further strengthens our expertise in bridges and structures, roadway design, and construction management. We are thrilled to welcome the employees of TranTech to the DEA team," stated Al Barkouli, Ph.D., P.E., Chairman, and CEO of DEA. As part of the integration process, TranTech Engineering will consolidate resources in DEA’s Bellevue and Olympia, Washington offices, while extending DEA’s presence to Bellingham and Pasco, Washington.

DEA is celebrating World Maritime Day by embracing the dawn of uncrewed vessels in the maritime domain. Our Marine Services team is pioneering the application of uncrewed vessels for offshore surveys with over the horizon supervised autonomy.
