About us
Denver Children's Advocacy Center (DCAC) serves children who have been sexually abused, neglected, or traumatized by witnessing violence. DCAC provides friendly, family-supportive services in one central location or close by. Our mission is to: prevent abuse. strengthen families. restore childhood. Our goal is to ensure that every child in Denver and neighboring counties who has been traumatized by sexual abuse, or by witnessing homicide or domestic violence receives immediate, compassionate and effective investigation, assessment and, if needed, mental health treatment. DCAC never charges for its services and we never place time limits on healing.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and this year’s theme is mental health in the workplace. DCAC is at its heart, a mental health organization. Recovery from abuse most often requires quality, specialized mental health care with a focus on trauma. At DCAC, we have an outstanding Treatment team consisting of seven child therapists who serve children in Denver with compassionate mental healthcare. In 2023, this team served 687 clients with 5,810 treatment sessions. Because of the nature of our work, our staff’s mental health is always top of mind, as well. We continue to look for ways to increase mental wellness in the workplace and encourage our team to build structures to support mental health in their lives. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #WorkplaceWellness #TraumaInformedCare #MentalHealthAtWork #SupportMentalHealth #ChildTherapists #HealingThroughCare #CompassionateCare #EndTheStigma

Join Us for a Day of Impact at Clays for Kids! I invite you to the 7th Annual Clays for Kids event, co-chaired by Michael Callahan & Adrian Helfert This event isn't just about a day of sporting fun—it's about coming together as a community to protect and support our most vulnerable children. Why This Matters: Denver Children's Advocacy Center (DCAC) is a leader in responding to reports of child abuse and neglect in the City of Denver. Our mission is to keep kids safe and strengthen families through comprehensive counseling services for child victims and their non-offending family members. We collaborate with our community to protect children through prevention-focused initiatives. The statistics are heartbreaking: 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 13 boys will experience sexual abuse during childhood. Last year alone, the Denver Department of Human Services responded to over 4,400 reports of child abuse. At DCAC, we provided 7,204 mental health treatment sessions and conducted 688 forensic interviews, helping children find a path to healing. By participating in Clays for Kids, you're making a direct impact on the lives of these children. Your support helps us continue our critical work in abuse prevention, response, and providing mental health services. 📅 Date: Friday, October 4th 🕗 Time: 8 AM - 2 PM 📍 Location: Colorado Clays Shooting Park, 13600 Lanewood St. Brighton, CO 80603 The day includes breakfast, a 15-station clay shooting tournament, and lunch. Let’s stand together for the children who need us most. Teams and sponsorships are still available—register today and help us make a difference. 🔗 Register here: https://lnkd.in/gbHBGsVc Every child deserves to feel safe and loved. Your participation ensures we can continue this crucial work.
