CALLING ALL DETROIT CREATIVES… this one is for you, so spread the word! First, let me say how stoked I am that Doner has pledged $1 million to hire talent that was essentially abandoned by their former employers. While we may not have $1 million to pour into the local economy, we’ve built some amazing relationships at Anchor and have made connections throughout Detroit and the local area that we're more than happy to share. Most recently, we put our money where our mouth is and reinvested into the future of Detroit’s creative community by starting the Kacy Semma Memorial Scholarship at the College for Creative Studies. Now it's time to start giving back to our peers. If you’re a creative, recently laid off or looking to connect with other creatives or opportunities, keep reading: 1. CreativeMornings/Detroit: If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve seen me post about CM. This community is like none I’ve ever been a part of in the creative space, and I’m so honored to help facilitate it. If you feel like you’ve been in your own bubble for too long, this is a great place to meet and network with other creatives. 2. The Hustle Society – Detroit: What started out as a monthly networking group at Bamboo turned into a support group for business owners and creatives alike. We’ve had first-time guests find immediate gigs while nurturing relationships that will lead to more in the future. 3. ProsperUs Detroit: Ready to venture into entrepreneurship? The team here can help guide you and possibly even provide grant support. 4. Design Core Detroit: The team here has its finger on the pulse of all things creative in the city. They also host Detroit Month of Design and Drinks x Design, which gives you plenty of opportunities to connect with other Detroit creatives. 5. Reach out to me directly. I’m only one person, and my time may be limited, but I’ll always do what I can to help make connections and offer guidance.
