Our Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (#MEL) team recently held a Pause and Reflect session for the USAID Honduras Democratic Governance Activity, that DevTech is implementing as a sub to WSP. #DemocraticGovernance, through citizen participation, rule of law, accountability, transparency, and respect for human rights, empowers people and fosters a society that's peaceful, prosperous, and just. This session, led by our MEL Manager, Keila Z., and attended by the Democratic Governance Activity Team, was organized to allow the team to step back, learn from experiences, and improve their approach moving forward as they approach the end of the first year of project implementation. Congratulations to Keila on a job well done. Thanks to her leadership and the highly effective Activity team, the project is well-positioned to make a significant impact in #Honduras.

Great work by DevTech Systems, Inc.’s #MERL in #Argentina on the vital issue of #childlabor. We were proud to do this work on behalf of the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of International Labor Affairs.
🎉DevTech's Monitoring and #Evaluation team recently completed an evaluation report focused on three projects funded by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) designed to combat #ChildLabor in the agricultural sector in #Argentina. 🎒Despite continued efforts to curb it, child labor persists in Argentina's agricultural sector, hindering children's education and development. To address this issue, ILAB conceived of a multi-pronged approach targeting the agricultural sector, the education sector, and government through the following three projects: • Project to Promote Workplace-Based Training for Vulnerable Youth in Argentina (NOEMI), implemented by Desarrollo y Autogestion • Improving the Capacity of Labor and Agriculture Stakeholders to Address Child Labor in Agricultural Areas of Argentina (OFFSIDE), implemented by Desarrollo y Autogestion • Child Labor Elimination in Agriculture in Argentina (PAR), implemented by the International Labour Organization Read the results of the evaluations associated with each of these projects, as well as promising practices and lessons learned via the links included below: •📖 Full evaluation report: https://ow.ly/4Qt550SEt1U •🗒 Evaluation brief: https://ow.ly/SLSk50SEt1T Tanya Hurst Andrea Estrella Chong Sam Mirtaheri

Recently, USAID Morocco's Inclusive Education Teacher Training Program (MITTA) Chief of Party Siham Bojji had the privilege of presenting the MITTA program to Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa as part of the end-of-year graduation ceremony for students from the Lalla Asmaa Foundation. MITTA uses sign language as the primary medium of instruction to teach reading and writing, known as #BilingualDeafEducation, contributing to the National Inclusive Education Program launched in 2019 under the guidance of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. It also involves an intensive 8-month training that equips teachers with the techniques and strategies necessary for interactive and quality education for deaf students. MITTA addresses #bilingual and #multilingual pedagogical approaches, classroom management, sign language for scientific content, and the use of new technologies in classrooms. DevTech CEO, Rafael Romeu also had the privilege of attending the Foundation's graduation ceremony, a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the students and of the teachers who have successfully completed their intensive training. #InclusiveEducation #DeafEducation #DHH #BilingualDeafEducation

New article on DIARIO DE CUBA by DevTech founder Jorge Sanguinetty. This article paints a grim picture of #Cuba's current situation with #FidelCastro's regime having crippled the nation as a result of his legacy of secrecy and repression. The Cuban political regime's poor economic planning is clearly reflected in our "Actual Cuban Exchange Rate Dashboard," which has shown increasing devaluation of the peso, with the dollar now trading approximately six times higher against the peso on the informal market than it did in early 2021: https://lnkd.in/eHBQkd-3 https://lnkd.in/e35XJ_GT
Where are you going, Cuba?

We've updated the #Cuba exchange rate dashboard ahead of #Venezuela's elections, scheduled for Sunday, 28 July 2024. DevTech Systems, Inc. has closely monitored Venezuela's #fiscal (https://shorturl.at/oBoHQ) and #debt challenges, as its #oil and other production collapsed (https://shorturl.at/AEALK), resulting in unprecedented developmental regression in recent years, characterized by economic decline, increased poverty (https://shorturl.at/K5VDw), and deterioration of public services and infrastructure (https://shorturl.at/83GX7). The potential political change (https://rb.gy/ox02go) from tomorrow's election in #Venezuela (https://rb.gy/oued4v) could deeply impact the subsidies that sustain the current deeply discredited Cuban government , and reverse the recent stabilization in #Cuba's exchange rate, buoyed in part by the reversal of limitations from U.S. Department of the Treasury #OFAC restrictions, which have allowed more remittances from the over 1 million migrants that have escaped #Cuba in the last two years. Cuba Parallel Market Exchange Rate Dashboard https://lnkd.in/eHBQkd-3 Thanks to our Insights (https://lnkd.in/eDDq_xEK) co-authors on Venezuela, including Omar Zambrano, Gerardo A. Milano G., Angel Alvarado.
Have you seen DevTech's Actual Cuban Exchange Rate Dashboard? It visualizes thousands of public posts on social media and extracts data on the buying and selling of Cuban Pesos in exchange for dollars and euros, using several daily time series graphs that provide insight into the actual dynamics of the Cuban Peso exchange rate. A part of our Employee Appreciation Week festivities, we also want to focus our attention on the great contributions of our field staff in #Indonesia and #Morocco. As such, we would like to express our utmost appreciation to Noura Hammouch, the Program and M&E Coordinator for the USAID Morocco Inclusive Education Teacher Training Activity (MITTA), implemented by DevTech. Noura is doing invaluable work in coordinating and supporting the activities of the MITTA project. She is the driving force behind the operations and logistics of national and regional capacity building workshops organized to strengthen NGO capabilities in planning and implementing Deaf educational programs and in Moroccan Sign Language skills. She is a consistently reliable person whose contributions have enriched MITTA in countless ways. Not only is she committed to delivering quality work, but her generosity and kindness continuously help foster a positive and collaborative environment. We are very fortunate to have someone of Noura’s caliber on the team. Thank you, Noura, for your excellent work and for being such a great coworker!
