🌟 Celebrating Excellence in Eagle County 🌟 On Saturday, October 5, the Eagle County Public Safety Council and the Eagle County Emergency Responders Fund honored local emergency responders at the annual Night of Excellence, held at 4 Eagle Ranch. “The annual Night of Excellence is an opportunity for Eagle County emergency responders to come together and celebrate their selfless sacrifice and service to the community,” said Eagle County Sheriff James Van Beek. “Our paramedics, firefighters, and law enforcement professionals work together seamlessly to deliver the highest level of service to the community, and many of the awards presented were a testament to that collaboration.” The Avon Police Department and the Eagle County Animal Services Field Services and Animal Shelter teams received the Unit Citation for Meritorious Service for rescuing and rehabilitating five abandoned dogs. The successful capture of the dogs would not have been possible without the assistance of several community members. 🐾

Key insights from community engagement are available in a new report on the Eagle County Open Space and Natural Resources website. This report lays the foundation for a virtual community event scheduled for August 20, which will provide an update on plan input and enable community members another opportunity to make their voices heard. A majority of respondents seek balance in prioritizing recreation and land conservation. When asked to rank priorities for acquiring new parcels, wildlife habitat ranked highest, and recreation access was a close second. This thoughtful feedback along with environmental and habitat analysis and financial studies helps the team better understand priorities and work toward a draft plan. More engagement is underway to hear from groups and residents who haven’t yet been involved.
