Earth Foundries had fun at the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council's inaugural FireSafe Summit last weekend. Great job SCCFSC hosting a wonderful event where folks could find out more about the important work you're doing protecting and preparing the county. We talked to attendees about our #SlashAttack sustainable forestry service that transforms unmerchantable forest material from forest health and hazardous fuels treatments into carbon-sequestering biochar on site and at scale. We had a great time at our bioswale with #biochar ribbon cutting event last Saturday at Veggielution in San Jose. We celebrated the installation of the grant-funded bioswale that addresses the flooding issues at the farm while also providing a demonstration project for how biochar can be used in stormwater remediation projects. We will monitor the bioswale to assess the effect biochar has on it. Visit our website to follow the results (https://lnkd.in/eAkmRUSX). Thank you to our funders, USDA Forest Service, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and Valley Water. Thank you, too, to our fantastic partners on the project: ReScape, Sonoma Ecology Center and North Santa Clara Resource Conservation District. #EndCatastrophicWildfire Raymond BaltarDorothea (Dede) Smullen

Awesome job Phoenix Energy! Our co-founders, Roger Smullen & Dorothea (Dede) Smullen, will also be attending and presenting on one of our USDA Forest Service and California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) grant-funded #biochar market development projects, a bioswale augmented with biochar at Veggielution in San Jose. (BTW, for anyone in the San Jose area and interested in seeing the bioswale, we are having a ribbon cutting event at Veggielution on Saturday, October 5th at 9:00AM. Come see us and learn more about biochar in bioswales!) #EndCatastrophicWildfire
This Monday, our CEO Greg Stangl has been invited to present on biochar in road applications at Monday's "Symposium on Biochar Applications in Transportation" organized by Elizabeth Betancourt of the California Department of Conservation. Elizabeth has put together a fantastic line up of biochar producers, researchers, and industry groups to present opportunities in materials development that could further support the State of California's waste management efforts ... with biochar as a star player that if utilized more broadly, could also increase carbon sequestration rates throughout California’s transportation systems. In addition to the industry presenters, Caltrans will share their findings from applications of biochar in stormwater management 🌧️ , two pilot projects that took place in 2019 where Phoenix was the biochar supplier of close to 300 cubic yards for sites at the Carquinez bridge and 80/680 interchange 🛣️ . Phoenix is providing biochar samples for attendees of this seminar (using biochar from our Merced demonstration plant). Check out this cool video our operations manager Todd Machado put together as he assembled them for the event. 👇 👇👇 #BECCS #biochar #NFCP #California #CDR #carboncredits #stormwater #waterfiltration

The team is busy with hazardous fuels reduction in East Bay Regional Park District's Anthony Chabot Park in the San Francisco Bay Area. This winter we'll process the unmercantable wood into biochar on site creating valuable #biochar to be used by the park district and others in a variety of carbon sequestering applications. If you are looking for biochar, let us know! #EndCatastrophicWildfire #SlashAttack #sustainableforestry
