Beim Innovationsforum Recyclingregion Harz des REWIMET e.V. konnte der AK-Vorsitzende Batterierecycling des BDE Jan Arff in seinem Kurzvortrag die aktuellen Herausforderungen des Recyclings von Li-Ion-Batterien darstellen: 🪫In ca. fünf bis Jahren steigt der Rücklauf von Alt-Batterien extrem an. 🔋Fahrzeug- Industrie bzw. Gerätebatterien bedürfen einer jeweils individuellen Behandlung in der Recyclinganlage. 🔮Gerätebatterien als Gruppierung an sich, sind in unterschiedliche Bauformen und Zellchemien aufgeteilt 🎱Schwarzmasse aus Gerätebatterien ist herausfordernd und stellt erhöhte Anforderungen an den folgenden hydrometallurgischen Prozess. 🏭Unternehmen in Deutschland und Europa benötigen Planungs- und Investitionssicherheit In der anschließenden Diskussion konnte das Auditorium an die anwesende Politik aus Niedersachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt und Thüringen adressieren, dass der Rohstoffbedarf durch den Ausbau der E- Mobiltät extrem steigen wird. Zudem wurde die Herausforderung bei der Sammlung und Lagerung von Li-Ion-Batterien für Konsumenten und Entsorger thematisiert. Unsachgemäße Entledigung von Batterien führen nach wie vor zu zahlreichen Bränden in Abfallsammelfahrzeugen 🚚 und Recyclinganlagen sämtlicher Stoffströme. Europa 🇪🇺baut Zellproduktion gerade massiv aus: Kann die Recyclingbranche Schritt halten? Sind Genehmigungsverfahren zeitgemäß und ressourcengerecht? Oft dauern diese extrem lange. A wise mentor once advised me that to become better leaders, sometimes we need to stop and sharpen our tools. My three-year MBA journey at USC Marshall School of Business was far from a pause although immense amount of sharpening was involved; it was a high-speed balancing act of school, work, personal life and networking. I’m incredibly grateful for the experience that gifted me a Trojan family and pushed my limits. From being elected program president by my peers to receiving the Order of Arete leadership award by USC faculty and staff, each milestone was transformative. Thank you, Professors Carl Voigt, christopher bresnahan, and Steve W. Martin for challenging me to define my competitive edge and think outside the box. Your lessons will guide me for years to come. Huge thanks to my company, Ecobat, for your unwavering support. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without you and understanding bosses both old and new, such as Bruce Davis and Jens Kammer. What’s next? First, a well-deserved pause as my husband, Kyle, and I finally take our honeymoon in Greece! After that, I'm excited to continue applying my learnings in my new role as an operations manager at Ecobat. My tools are sharpened, and I’m ready for the adventure ahead!

What an exciting journey through Ecobat's global footprint! Stefanie Scruggs, Ecobat's Chief Sustainability and HSE Officer, had the honor of visiting some of Ecobat's many plants in Europe over the last few weeks. Starting in Paderno, Italy - which has embodied Ecobat's enduring commitment to a circular energy economy since 1938 - and culminating in Braubach, Germany, the tour across Europe highlighted the high-quality, reliable, sustainable product and services that Ecobat has provided its customers for decades. Between the bookends included stops in Bazoches, France, Shrewsbury, UK, and then London, where Stefanie brought the significance of Ecobat’s work to the world stage in the International Lead Association’s Executive Committee. Her journey came to a close in the heartland of Germany, where she visited some of Ecobat’s oldest plants in Freiberg, Hettstedt, and, finally, Braubach, one of three facilities that produces and distributes Ecobat’s trademark polypropylene product, Seculene®PP. All along, we saw firsthand how our team members worldwide contribute to shaping a #sustainable future. Congratulations to our team at Sheffield Railway Challenge for securing a well-deserved victory and for also winning 'The Reliability Challenge' in conjunction with the University of Derby team.
