Big thanks to our partner NGO, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary & Visitor Centre for this heartwarming story. “Evie the muntjac deer has moved into her new home! She arrived earlier this year at just 4 weeks old, and needed bottle feeding from Lianne to help her grow big and strong 🍼 Muntjac deer are an invasive species in the UK and cannot be released back into the wild, which means we need a special license to keep her safe at the sanctuary - we sent off the application for this earlier this week now that her enclosure is finished. Huge thank you to Best Equine & Agricultural Fencing for doing an amazing job as always! 🚜 We think her zoomies are a sign of her happiness in her new space 🥰” You can help Hopefield Animal Sanctuary to continue doing this great work! If you select Hopefield Animal Sanctuary as your chosen NGO, you can know that 100% of your monthly subscription with Ecoflix will be directly donated to them ♥️

NEW from our Head of Conservation, Ian Redmond. Since the 1980s, Ian Redmond has been researching an unusual and endangered #elephant population in the Mount Elgon area. This population, of which the matriarch Kali is a member, consists of savannah elephants that have adapted to living in the mountain forests. They are now isolated after humans took their surrounding habitat away from them. The animals seek out hidden caves at night to chisel mineral-rich volcanic rock off the walls with their tusks, thereby expanding these subterranean salt mines into enormous chambers. This underground behaviour is unique among elephants. What is behind this mysterious mining activity? https://lnkd.in/ehndjj7B

NOW LIVE on Ecoflix with Snow Leopard Trust ❄️ Living with Snow Leopards, Dolma and Chodon Dolma and Chodon live with their families in the high Himalayan village of Kibber India a population of roughly 450 people. Their families depend on their livestock to survive. What concerns them is when their animals fall prey to the stealthy predator, the snow leopard. Retaliatory killing is the number one threat to this endangered cat. This story explores the struggles and solutions they have found to a more peaceful co-existence with snow leopards. Dolma and Chodon as women in the the community, have now earned the respect and support in Kibber and are now asked to particpate as decision makers in the community meetings. They are now recognized as conservation leaders and have created ways for other women in the village to engage in conservation practices conserving wildlife and landscapes in Asia. Directed by Gayle Podrabsky. With Subtitles. https://lnkd.in/dMUtxpFX

Thanks to our NGO partner Liberia Chimp Reacue for these inspiring stories. If you select LCRP as your chosen NGO, 100% of your Ecoflix subscription will go direct to them to help the continuation of this amazing work ♥️. IMPORTANT NOTE: The chimpanzees at Liberia Chimpanzee Rescue & Protection's sanctuary in West Africa are victims of the illegal bushmeat and pet trades. Their mothers were tragically killed. Thanks to our dedicated team, these individuals are rehabilitated so they can thrive with other chimpanzees in a natural and safe environment for their lifetimes. Please support our work rescuing chimpanzees in need and keeping wild chimps wild. https://lnkd.in/emeckdix LCPR also have an emergency fund looking for donations which can be found via their website https://lnkd.in/gP67zWvM

Interested in #gorillas and how they compare to humans? My first Ecoflix Primate Podcast is now available on YouTube - greatly enjoyed swapping stories with Prof Gillian Forrester, whose new ground-breaking research looks at how ex-captive apes deal with the challenges of rehabilitation into their natural habitat. https://lnkd.in/dF9qB76A
