Our own Alexander Procton is speaking at Innovate4Climate next week! Join for “Steering through uncertainty – Advancing carbon markets” on Tuesday, Sept. 10th @ 11:40am CET. Description: Carbon markets are at an inflection point. Lack of clarity on corporate use of carbon credits and delayed Article 6 negotiations continue to undermine confidence in carbon markets, among other bottlenecks. This session will explore how the markets are responding to these developments and discuss the current landscape and insights from the latest World Bank’s State and Trends of International Carbon Markets report, leading market intelligence providers and subject matter experts. Speakers: -Guy Turner, Global Head of Carbon Markets, MSCI Carbon Markets -Alex Procton, Manager, Data Solutions and Insights, Ecosystem Marketplace -Maria Orsola Benzoni, Carbon Market Data Lead, AlliedOffsets -Hania Dawood, Practice Manager, Climate Finance & Economics, The World Bank Moderator: Dirk Forrister, President, IETA https://lnkd.in/ecqM2YH9

Since the launch of the solar water well initiative in 2021, the Wildlife Alliance Southern Cardamom REDD+ Project has installed 94 solar-powered water wells across 24 villages, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels. 🚰 🇰🇭 The largest well, in Kamlot village, features a 10,000-liter storage tank. By harnessing solar power for water pumps, the project minimizes environmental impact and eliminates the need for deforestation for water-intensive agriculture. Before these installations, clean water access was a major challenge for families in all communities within the project zone. This initiative not only alleviates water scarcity but also promotes sustainable livelihoods and forest conservation. "Emissions reductions have to be at the main focus of climate action, but offsets should probably also be part of the toolbox," says Stephen Porder in a new op-ed published on EM: https://lnkd.in/eNdF9xj8 "Any organization serious about fighting climate change must switch to 100% renewable electricity, electrify vehicles, heat with high efficiency electric heat pumps, switch to zero emissions manufacturing, and reduce supply chain emissions. If, after that, they buy offsets, that’s not greenwashing. That’s doing more, which is what is needed to solve this wicked problem."
