Last week, Oneonta Job Corps Career Transition Specialist Natalie Perry set up a presentation on Financial Literacy for the advanced training students. Lisa Lent, Member Partner Advisor with AmeriCu, discussed the importance of understanding and effectively using various financial skills, including personal financial management, budgeting, and investing. Students participated and asked many good questions. CTS will do this for every cohort to help students learn more about the finances they will need in the "real world." #jobcorps #CareersBeginHere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #StudentSuccess #CommunityEngagement #financialliteracy

Treasure Island Job Corps in San Francisco, CA, partnered with Sherman Williams to provide painting training for students. At the conclusion of the training, the students painted the media room in the dorms. The bright blue walls are fun and can be enjoyed by everyone at the center. On his last day at the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center, Deputy Director Bruce Burnett assisted Lieutenant Commander Mark Rakestraw (US Navy Retired) with the Junior ROTC annual awards. Mr. Burnett attended class to learn how muster (roll call) is taken, how to perform drill maneuvers, and then served as a judge while the NJROTC cadets displayed their skills. In the end, “there can be only one,” and that was Gabriel Radke, who showcased his winning prowess in both drill with and without a drill rifle. For his skill, he received a medal of military achievement. Military-affiliated service organizations routinely provide JROTC and ROTC units with awards to recognize leadership. This year was an extremely hard choice. Our award candidates are evenly matched in participation, community service, and leadership. Zachary Scrogham was recognized with the American Veterans (AMVETS) Award for JROTC Leadership. Gabriel Radke was recognized with the Purple Heart Foundation award for JROTC Leadership, was selected as the unit’s Cadet of the Year, and presented a plaque provided by the Navy League of Greater Kansas City. Congratulations to Zach and Gabe, or as they say in the Navy – “Bravo Zulu.” The Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center is operated by ETR #educationandtrainingresources and MINACT #minactinc. #jobcorps #CareersBeginHere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #JROTC

Congratulations to the Montgomery Job Corps graduates! The ceremony was wonderful and featured Commencement Speaker Circuit Court Judge JR Gaines, who is pictured with his wife, Monet Gaines, and Montgomery Job Corps Center Director Frank Corio. The Center Director Award was presented to Issaic Amante, shown here with MJCC's Phyllis Rushing, Jerry Morris, and Frank Corio. One must admit that the student ushers looked sharp. What an event!
