🔆 Celebrating the Power of Local Partnerships 🔆   The USAID Makanati-funded Local Partnership Committee (LPC) in Jerash exemplifies a successful initiative to enhance women’s access to employment in Jordan through improved transportation. The LPC successfully secured the Jordanian Decentralization Council's (DC) commitment to fund the expansion of transportation services. This effort resulted in a pledge from the local municipalities to invest in initiatives that would improve bus routes, increase service frequency, and revitalize a central bus station. Congrats to our #Makanati team on this successful initiative! For the full story click here: https://lnkd.in/egrqbaJZ

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to travel to Krakow, Poland for the first Ukraine Monitoring and Learning Support (UMLS) retreat hosted by EnCompass LLC. It was insightful to hear about all the hard work from professionals in our field on the importance of providing solutions for capacity building and learning. The chance to connect with colleagues, reflect on our goals, and explore such a culturally rich city was truly rewarding, and I plan on applying the insights gained during this retreat to my work moving forward. #UMLSProject #ProfessionalGrowth #TeamBuilding

Bringing Gender Equality and Inclusive Development (GEID) to Center Stage - by, Adriana Abreu-Combs, MEL Activity COP What are the dreams and hopes of Cristina, a Guatemalan indigenous woman caring for her young children in a remote village? This is one of the many reflective questions that an interdisciplinary team of USAID/El Salvador (https://lnkd.in/gT_x-iSA) staff explored while contributing to the design of a new regional activity. As part of a pilot run for a context-specific, Agency-required gender analysis, the team aimed to incorporate findings into the new activity design, setting clear GEID expectations and requirements from the outset to shape actions that prioritize gender and inclusion. The EnCompass team, through El Salvador’s regional MEL contract (https://lnkd.in/eaAmEaiW), developed a facilitated approach to help design teams to tackle questions such as "what can be done by the new activity to promote inclusion and gender integration" and "what should be measured?" On October 16, the USAID/El Salvador pilot team engaged in a five-hour, in-person, deep-dive facilitated session, successfully tackling these and other critical questions to inform their new activity design. The design lead left the session with a well-earned sense of accomplishment. A key highlight of this process is the cross-country learning that informed the pilot. Lessons and experiences from Guatemala and Mexico USAID Missions gender analysis processes helped shape a strong, strategic sprint for El Salvador. Designed to be easily implemented once trained, this gender analysis approach has the potential to strengthen GEID throughout both the design and implementation phases. Exciting progress ahead! In the ever-evolving landscape of #monitoring, #evaluation, #research and learning (MERL), strengthening local and regional capacities are crucial for enhancing opportunities for locally-led development. On the last day of #Eval24, our EnCompass evaluation experts, Karla Giuliano Sarr, Cecilia Banks Papariello, and our Senegal MEL Platform colleague from Management Systems International, Safyatou Diallo presented an insightful panel focused on this imperative. They delved into three cases: in Senegal, where a USAID MEL contract is enhancing the role of local evaluation firms in all phases of the evaluation process; in Latin America, where EnCompass worked alongside local government counterparts to develop and implement new MERL tools and learning opportunities; and in the international education sector, where we addressed barriers to local research dissemination and explored ways to elevate local voices. The engaging discussions offered valuable strategies for advancing MERL ecosystems both globally and locally.
