⚡️ Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are keeping pace with utility-scale renewables. According to Wood Mackenzie data, DER capacity is projected to grow 262 GW from 2023 to 2027 – nearly matching the 271 GW of large-scale renewable additions expected in the same period. This parallel growth creates an unprecedented opportunity for Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) to revolutionize grid management. By aggregating and orchestrating these distributed resources, VPPs can enable a more flexible and reliable grid from the ground up. What does this mean for the future of energy? The grid of tomorrow won't just be cleaner—it will be smarter and more resilient, powered by millions of coordinated energy assets. #EnergizeInsights

📈 The scale of renewable energy deployment tells a powerful story. By 2030, the BNEF estimates the U.S. will see 78,000 wind turbines, almost 24 million EV chargers, and over 1.2 billion solar panels, with total generation capacity growing from 100GW to 600GW. This isn't just growth - it's a fundamental transformation of our energy landscape, driven by increasingly favorable economics and technological innovation. #EnergizeInsights

💡 Energize Partner Tyler Lancaster and Dr. Stephan Rohr (co-CEO of our portfolio company TWAICE) joined Maeve Allsup of Latitude Media to talk about the future of battery storage. Lithium-ion batteries have achieved "one of the fastest cost declines of any energy technology ever" according to the IEA. Looking ahead, Tyler shared: "I don't know if we can forecast the different ways that very, very cheap batteries might be used ten years from now if those trends keep happening." The U.S. battery market is now in what we call the "software-enabled scale phase" - and companies like TWAICE are leading the charge, helping developers and utilities unlock the full potential of their battery systems. "…if you look over a 10-year horizon, there's no question a shift toward renewables is happening; largely because it makes economic sense, not purely policy reasons." - Matthew Idema, Aurora Solar Despite market and political uncertainty, the Energize NEXT Climate Software Summit made one thing clear: the energy transition is not slowing down, and we have better tools than ever to make it happen. ✍️ Read our latest blog, Today in Climate: Insights from the Energize NEXT Climate Software Summit, here: https://lnkd.in/d_wMwsxw

Princeton’s Net Zero America study estimates that the U.S. will need 180 GW of six-hour batteries for a power grid dominated by renewable energy. That means we would need 70x as many batteries that we have today, and that each battery would need twice the duration than current averages. This demand is driving massive growth in the battery industry, leading to a predicted 25% CAGR over the next decade. 🔋 Learn more in the Energize Battery Software Deep Dive: https://lnkd.in/dWRYipew #EnergizeInsights
