The Engine Technology Forum evolved from the widely known Diesel Technology Forum.
About us
The Engine Technology Forum evolved from the widely known Diesel Technology Forum which was founded in 2000. Members include leaders in internal combustion engines, fuels, and technologies. Since its inception more than 125 years ago, the internal combustion engine has evolved to meet the needs of a growing world. These engines are powered by petroleum-based fuels like gasoline, diesel and natural gas and renewable biobased fuels. Together they deliver efficient and reliable sources of power to build global economies, enable personal mobility, production of food, and the movement of goods and exchange of trade in every corner of the world.

Who said the 'clean energy transition' was going to be easy? Given the popularity of pick-up trucks in the market, and with consumers more interested in ICE than EV, then it makes a lot of sense to make more of what consumers want. If these new pick-up trucks replace older less efficient ones please remember that we are still making progress on climate. The worst thing that can happen IMHO is that policies and prices drive consumers to hold on to their older vehicles longer (we are already at about 12 years average vehicle age). That way no one wins- consumer loses out on safety, emissions improvements, uses more fuel, higher costs to operate, economy is hurt by lower demand for manufacturing. "Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good."
