About us
At Evergy, our highest purpose is to enhance life in the communities we serve. We know we’re not just delivering electricity. We’re delivering energy that connects us. We deliver an essential service to approximately 1.8 million residential and commercial customers to homes and businesses in Kansas and Missouri. Our electricity reaches about 4.5 million people, powering the most important life moments in the heart of our country. It’s a responsibility that energizes our culture. This is why we’re committed to sustainability, safety and a people-first mindset. Sustainability for Evergy means delivering clean, safe and reliable sources of energy today and into the future. We're embracing new energy sources to generate more power with less impact to our environment and adopting new technologies to help us be carbon neutral by 2045. More than half of the power we currently supply to our region comes from clean sources, creating more reliable energy with less impact to the environment. Evergy has a deep responsibility to safety and our company recognizes it is everyone’s responsibility, always and in all situations. We never compromise on safety. When it comes to putting people first, we pour into our employees to foster an environment of inclusion and development. Evergy is an equal opportunity workplace and an affirmative action employer. We know that the more diverse, equitable and inclusive we are, the better we will be. To achieve our goals, we need an innovative, diverse and engaged workforce. With that strategy, we can achieve operational excellence. We have a mission to be the best energy company without compromising safety, sustainability and our commitment to our Kansas and Missouri communities. We move energy forward to empower a better future for all.

Our crews that we sent out east have been hard at work providing mutual assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. After tackling some of the most challenging outage locations in Kentucky (Hazard and Ashland), our crews are now moving to Glade Spring, Va., to continue their efforts with AEP’s Appalachian Power. We are proud to be part of a massive recovery effort, joining 50,000 electric utility personnel from over 40 states and Canada in restoring power to areas impacted by Hurricane Helene. The map below details our teams’ travels thus far. Thank you to our teams and contractors for their relentless work. 💙💚

Evergy crews are on their second day of restoring power in southeast Kentucky alongside AEP (Kentucky Power) after Hurricane Helene. Corey Miller, Evergy’s Director of Regional Operations, shares the unique challenges of working in Kentucky’s mountainous terrain in this video: “In the Midwest, everything is relatively flat. We don’t have this kind of terrain. Our crews have had to rappel down ravines and climb mountains, dragging poles and equipment by hand to restore power.” Since Saturday, over 300 linemen and support staff from our area, including 120 Evergy employees and 200 area contractors, have been deployed to assist with the restoration efforts. The host utility AEP is covering the costs for mutual assistance. 🤝 Once the work in Kentucky is complete, Evergy crews will head to Virginia to continue restoration efforts for the more than two million customers still without power. A huge thank you to all the Evergy crews for their hard work and dedication! 💚💙

Evergy crews are on the move! 💙💚 This morning, 120 of our dedicated employees, including line crews and support staff, headed to Ashland, Ky., to help restore power to those affected by Hurricane Helene. They’ll join an incredible force of 50,000 workers from over 30 states, D.C. and Canada. Our team from Kansas and Missouri will assist AEP Kentucky, while 200 contractors head to Indiana to support Duke Energy. Evergy is proud to be part of the Midwest Mutual Assistance Group and we’re committed to helping our neighbors in times of need. 💙💚
