It’s a common refrain: Startup founder who sacrifices their health and good habits in the tireless pursuit of launching and leading a company. But success shouldn’t come at the cost of losing sight of well-being… That’s why we partnered with Bessemer Venture Partners to launch 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘, a wellness program designed for entrepreneurs, founders, and CEOs, that offers a mix of one-on-one coaching, online resources, and community forums to help them stay healthy. Here at Exos, we're incredibly proud of all of our coaches and the phenomenal work that they do each and every day to impact their communities. Today, we're celebrating Coach Christopher Serrano, who's been nominated as a 2024 American Heart Association Leaders of Impact nominee in the Greater Philadelphia Region. As part of this year’s class of Coach for Good changemakers, Chris is dedicated to making a lasting impact on the health of his community - a goal that dovetails with his day-to-day role as Performance Manager, helping FS Investments' employee population elevate how they perform and build capacity to reach their full potential. #LifeAtExos

Oooooh team - I have some personal news to share today… After 5 absolutely epic years at the helm of the greatest team I know - I have decided it’s time to step down from my role and I will be leaving Exos at the end of October. I started this job on the 1st February 2020. That’s right - week one on the job involved preparing to shut down 400 gym sites around the world! So we shut the business down. Opened it back up. And down again. And up again. 😬 The shift to remote work happened. The rush to staff up for our tech transformation in the pandemic. Critically important social moments in history happened. Sudden and massive tech industry layoffs impacting critical clients and teammates. We launched our game changing new service offerings including the Exos Coaching Platform, Exos Leadership Programs, and now Exos High Performance executive coaching. We supported the fastest 40 yard dash at the NFL combine and opened new facilities in Atlanta. We tackled the burnout crisis and created a new blueprint for healthy high performance in the future of work. And most importantly, we got Exos back to winning again! PHHHHHEW - how did we DO IT ALL??? So why now you ask? Sometimes in life, you come to a fork in the road, and it's so hard to make the turn away from what you love. But those moments are also when you grow and evolve the most. And as I have spent the last 3 years doing college tours with my kids and watching them take flight to their own life adventures, it has provoked me to challenge myself in my own life - and think about the ways I want to use my time to have the broadest impact I can. I’m ready to get a bit of rest and recovery before setting sail for my next adventure. Meantime - the timing is absolutely perfect, as it coincides with the ability of my dear friend and former board Chair Dan Burns to return as the CEO of Exos. It’s an amazing story as to how Dan passed the baton to me, and it feels so right to be able to pass it back to him now. I’m forever grateful to Mark Verstegen and Dan for bringing me into this amazing team and I am pumped for them and the entire team to embark on this next chapter. We’ve come SO FAR in the last 5 years, and the best is yet to come! To my amazing, caring, tough as nails, inspiring, charismatic and nerdy Exos teammates - I am so so honored to have been a part of this journey. Thank you for every moment of your energy, your support and your belief. I am not saying goodbye - as I'll be staying on as an advisor in the coming months and doing everything I can to be your great cheer squad from the sidelines. #SandwichBoardingForExos - I don't think I'll ever know how to stop! To my amazing family - Liam, Sam, Joe, Gabby and Eddie our dog - thanks for helping me with the courage I needed to be bold one more time - even at the ripe age of 52! Here's to the next chapter! 🚩🚩🚩 “𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺.” These days, even if well-intentioned, referring to your organization's team members as a “family" is a red flag for potential employees, because expecting family-like bonds in professional settings leads to burnout.  Instead, many companies have taken to the idea of teams as communities to create a sense of connection and belonging. However, it's important to remember that there's nuance at play - healthy functioning teams are a different than communities. Understanding the differences is critical, because mistaking a team for a community can undermine productivity and cohesion. Here’s why and how to avoid this common misstep. 👇

When Peloton Interactive instated a return-to-office (RTO) policy, they knew prioritizing their employees' well-being would be a key to success. As Peloton's corporate well-being partner, we provided an elevated on-site fitness experience and well-being program that creates connection and community for Peloton's employees... and even makes them excited to go into the office and take advantage of Peloton’s wellness and recovery programming, according to the site's Exos coach Charlie Lolak. If your organization is facing a similar RTO policy, view it as an opportunity to focus on creating a culture of well-being! The benefits are greater than just fitness: According to Stefan Underwood, CSCS, Senior Vice President of Methodology at Exos, "Exercise helps employees build their capacity so they are able to show up at their best in the moments that matter most." The number of people estimated to be menopausal by 2025 is one billion. Yet, based on our surveys of women in this growing demographic, most trainers and workplaces still lack the understanding necessary to offer proper support. Last week, at the #FortuneMPW Summit, our CEO Sarah Robb O'Hagan joined a panel to discuss “How Investing in Women's Sports Fosters Women Leaders,” where she highlighted our research on women in perimenopause/menopause.

What would it look like to bring more support to women of all ages—from girls, who tend to drop out of sports around ages 13/14, to the 70% of women in perimenopause/menopause who say they don’t receive enough workplace support for managing their symptoms, according to Exos research? Loved diving into this topic and more related to supporting women of all ages—from girls in sports to women in leadership—during last week’s panel titled “How Investing in Women's Sports Fosters Women Leaders” at the #FortuneMPW Summit, alongside Ilona Aman (Formerly Stepanyants), Elizabeth Lindsey, and Lara Abrash.
