Today is our last day with our exceptional summer intern class of 2024! Over the course of the last eight weeks, the 2024 class gained practical work experience, learned about the North American renewables space, completed projects that will add incredible value to Exus Renewables North America, and had some fun along the way. Their final week was a busy one: they attended a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball game, visited our Highland North and Cambria Wind farms in Cambria County, PA, and ended their time at Exus with individual presentations on their summer work projects. We look forward to staying in touch with this talented group! Luke Hildebrandt, Samuel Green, Yash Chiplunkar, Gideon Tandoh, Satia Hatami, Austin Usmonov, Shuyang Ma, Nadia Durante, Niels van Duijnhoven.

The American flag is flying over our Twin Ridges wind farm in Pennsylvania this Independence Day. We recently announced that the site's repowering project is underway, utilizing components manufactured in the USA by Vestas and constructed on-site by White Construction LLC. We're proud to have Joey Ward, CFA as a member of our Exus Renewables North America team!
Our team's expertise and dedication are driving forces behind our success in renewables. We recently spoke with Joey Ward, CFA, Director of Mergers and Acquisitions, who began his career at Exus as an analyst. With a BSBA in Finance and Economics from the University of Denver, and holding a CFA charter, Joey brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. 1. Tell us about your journey at Exus, from your start as an analyst to your current leadership role? I started at Exus as an analyst / associate in late 2020. I had limited experience in the renewable energy sector but with the help and support of the senior leadership team I quickly learned about the industry and the nuances of investments in utility scale wind and solar assets. Much of my early time was spent working on financial models and creating presentations for investors. As my role expanded I became more involved in due diligence coordination and eventually became an active part of term sheet and contract negotiations, alongside participation in financing activities. 2. What inspired you to pursue a career in renewable energy, and how does Exus support your professional growth and development in this field? Part of what inspired me to work in the renewable energy sector was the social impact and the role I can play in mitigating climate change and reducing carbon emissions. On top of that, it is exciting to work in an innovative industry with constant technological advancements. It is one of the most important industries in driving economic growth and job creation in the near-term. Exus does a great job emphasizing the importance of professional growth and development through identifying and supporting opportunities for continued education, whether that's through pursuit of advanced degrees and professional certifications or providing networking opportunities with key-industry players. 3. With your background in investment analysis and M&A, what unique perspectives do you bring to Exus' approach in acquiring and managing renewable energy assets? I’ve been fortunate to work with multiple teams that are filled with experienced renewable energy professionals. As a result, I’ve been able to develop a more holistic understanding of the valuation drivers of our projects. 4. How does Exus differentiate itself from other companies in the renewable energy sector in terms of its M&A strategies? We are not just a passive financial investor. Due to the capabilities and experience of our asset management, commercial management, and development teams, we have an in-depth understanding of the risks associated with development, construction, and operations of renewable energy assets. Our M&A team works hand-in-hand with each of the teams within the business to precisely understand and manage risks and identify opportunities to optimize assets and generate higher returns on investments.

Exus Renewables North America held a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday at our Twin Ridges wind farm in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Business partners, representatives from the local and state government, and community members gathered to celebrate at Twin Ridges. We are investing approximately $200 million to repower the Twin Ridges wind farm, which will result in a 30% increase in energy generation, providing additional clean electricity for the region. Thanks to all our partners who joined us for the event!
