We’re excited to share that Fairstead has been granted a Leading Edge award from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP) at our Courtview Towers property in Florence, Alabama!   This award will support our efforts to achieve NGBS Gold certification and reduce carbon emissions at the property, helping us to ensure that our communities are more sustainable and resilient to extreme weather events.   Thank you to our partners at HUD and everyone on our team who helped make this award possible. Fairstead’s very own Desiree Andrepont, Director, Investment Management, recently shared her insights on the evolving affordable housing policy landscape at Bisnow's New York Affordable Housing Conference in New York City.    Desiree shared her expertise in a conversation with industry leaders on a panel titled “Alternative Development Opportunities: 467M Conversion Program & City of Yes.” With an eye on addressing the housing affordability crisis, Desiree shared her insights on how the industry can strengthen communities under these new policies and proposals.   Desiree’s participation highlights Fairstead’s commitment to working with our government partners to find innovative ways to promote affordability in New York that improves outcomes for our residents and our communities.    #fairstead10 #affordablehousing #newyorkcity

As Fairstead continues to celebrate 10 years of building strong communities, we’re proud to announce that we’ve reached a significant milestone for Chenoweth Woods Apartments – a 99-unit affordable senior property located in Louisville, Kentucky.   Fairstead has closed on financing and we are now preparing for extensive renovations to the homes at Chenoweth Woods! These renovations affirm Fairstead’s goal of providing high-quality housing across the country, and will include essential updates such as new kitchens, bathrooms and efficient appliances. Additionally, we will be refreshing the community’s landscaping and outdoor amenities with the inclusion of a community garden, picnic area and dog run.   We would like to thank our partners at the Kentucky Housing Corporation, Truist Community Capital, Grandbridge Real Estate Capital and our entire team for working alongside us to ensure that all of the communities we serve are places that our residents are proud to call home.   #affordablehousing #fairstead10

We’re proud to announce that Ellen Shakespear, Senior Project Manager, Development, at Fairstead has been named to the Urban Design Forum’s 2024 inaugural class of Big Swings Fellows.   This fellowship recognizes Ellen as an urban leader who will “survey the world to take a 'big swing' at New York City’s housing crisis” and includes a trip to Berlin, Germany to learn from urban leaders internationally.   Fairstead is committed to doing our part to address the growing housing crisis in New York City and we are incredibly proud to have individuals like Ellen on our team to help drive this important work.   #design #newyorkcity #fairstead10

Meaningful progress is underway at the Lauderhill Point Apartments located in the City of Lauderhill, Florida! Since acquiring the property in January of this year, Fairstead has started work on a comprehensive rehabilitation project aimed at preserving and improving this affordable community. Comprised of 176-units, Lauderhill Point is set to receive exterior and interior upgrades ranging from new hurricane-resistant windows, to new LED lighting, to updated appliances and cabinetry. Just recently, we were pleased to share the progress made to date by touring the property with our government partners, including Vice Mayor Lawrence “Jabbow” Martin, City Manager Desorae Giles-Smith, Deputy Police Chief Allen Siegel, Assistant Fire Marshall Matt Newman, and others. Thank you to all of the City of Lauderhill officials that joined this event! In addition, our thanks to Fairstead’s financial partners Broward County Housing Finance Authority, Florida Housing Finance Corporation, PNC, Freddie Mac, and Berkadia for supporting this work.
