What does dimethylpolysiloxane taste like? 🥫 Anyone who has ever compared a food label in the United Status to a food label in Europe will notice a stark difference: ingredient lists for food sold in the U.S. is often twice or three times as long as the same (or similar) products sold in Europe. There are over 10,000 food additives approved for use in the US (dimethylpolysiloxane is on that list), while the European Union has less than 400. The Congressional Ways & Means Subcommittee on Health recently held a hearing on chronic disease treatment and prevention. In that session, Dr. Mark Hyman testified that ultra-processed foods are so prevalent they account for approximately 80% of all the food products sold in grocery stores and 73% of our total food supply. Dr. Hyman and other experts testified about the dire condition of health in America and much of the research is directly correlated to highly processed foods. Some of the statistics shared include: 🥫 Poor nutrition is the leading risk factor for death and disability in the U.S. 💵 The U.S. economy loses an estimated $1.1 trillion each year in direct medical costs and productivity losses due to poor nutrition. 🏥 The average family on employer-sponsored insurance has lost $125,000 in cumulative wages due to rising healthcare premiums. The leading cause of household bankruptcy is catastrophic medical expenses with greatest impact on rural, low income, Black and Hispanic families. Statistics like these concern me as a husband, father, and as a citizen of this country. As the CEO of Farmer Focus, these statistics confirm for me our commitment to producing the healthiest protein products possible. 🐔 Our organic and no-antibiotic-ever chicken products come from family farmers committed to raising their birds humanely, sustainably, and with the highest regard for bird health. Every package of our chicken is traceable back to the grower who raised the bird. We take the quality and nutrition of our chicken very seriously. That commitment and effort was recently recognized by the The Wall Street Journal which noted that we were one of only five chicken brands “worth every penny.” In the congressional session, former U.S. Senator Bill Frist, who is also a medical doctor, said in his testimony, “As we look to comprehensively expand treatment options for diet-related diseases...we all need to prioritize going back to the very basics: the food we put in our bodies every day.” I’m proud of the work we’re doing at Farmer Focus to provide healthy, traceable, protein to families in the U.S. I’m honored to partner with the family farmers who grow for us. And I’m humbled by the work our team members are doing every day to produce and deliver delicious chicken to our consumers.
