The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors recently approved the Westside Area Plan and EIR, which provides policy guidance for new development and resource management in the unincorporated Westside Planning Area and reflects the unique conditions, needs, and vision of its community members. The Plan’s focus areas encompass historically African American communities, and the importance of this legacy directly informed the Plan’s unique approach, which includes strategies to protect and celebrate the area’s history and culture while addressing the risks of gentrification and displacement. Our team’s work on the project started in July 2023, and in the first nine months, we completed a visioning process, prepared an Existing Conditions Report, explored concepts for potential areas of change, finalized an updated Land Use Plan, completed buildout projections, published draft Goals and Policies, and completed a full administrative draft of the Area Plan. Phew! Through extensive community outreach and a collaborative planning process with our incredible colleagues at LA County Planning and our teaming partners--HR&A Advisors, Historic Resources Group, ECORP Consulting, Inc., and Fehr & Peers--the Plan continued to take shape. The resulting document provides the County of Los Angeles, the development community, business owners, and local residents with a clear framework for continued growth while also ensuring the protection and conservation of its existing resources. You can read more about the project in Urbanize LA’s recent article, here: https://lnkd.in/gVGCWEcs Please join us as we celebrate this huge milestone! 🙌 Outreach photos 📷: LA County Department of Regional Planning #CommunityPlanning #Outreach #CEQA #UrbanPlanning #CommunityDevelopment #TeamPlaceWorks #LACounty
