We are a WBE design collective creating transformative architecture for public, private and mission-driven clients.
About us
An Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE), Finegold Alexander Architects is a design collective focused on creating architecture for public, private and mission-driven organizations. Our approach to transformative design is to push the realm of possibility. We do it without lines between you and us—your problem is ours; without favoring “what ifs” or “must haves”—it’s both; without focusing on yesterday or tomorrow—it’s all relevant. Where others see obstacles, we look through them, removing perceived barriers and finding opportunities to shape the future. We believe that our future and that of the planet depends on sustainable, interdisciplinary, and collaborative achievements. Our projects, whether they are new construction or renovation, are integrated into their physical, cultural and environmental contexts. As pioneers of the adaptive use movement, our unique lens on the past informs the now and the ever after. To learn more, visit www.faainc.com.

Eaton Hall is now open to students! The former library building on the Tufts University Medford campus was renovated to accommodate more classrooms, multiuse spaces, and a 4,000 SF room for events. Improvements to sustainability and functionality bring the space to the modern age, still honoring the historic design of the past. Last week, Finegold Alexander Principal Regan Shields Ives, AIA, LEED AP, Associate Stephen Walnut, and Designer Brendan Spina celebrated at the opening ceremony of the original 1908 building – and took a great selfie too! Each week our project team at Finegold Alexander Architects visits the construction site to review progress and meet with project team members from Jacobs and Gilbane Building Company. From sketch to model to drawing, it's exciting to see the school become a built structure! Read more about the construction process: https://lnkd.in/eZ8EpNYH

Read all about it: The Newbury of Brookline was featured in The Architect's Newspaper this month! As Architect of Record on the project, in collaboration with RAMSA | Robert A.M. Stern Architects as the design architect, the now closed Newbury College was repurposed into a premiere senior living campus. The campus includes Finegold Alexander Architect's restoration of the historic Mitton House, an 1895 mansion formerly belonging to the college. This #TransformationTuesday, we're taking a look at our restoration of the historic Old Chapel Student Center at University of Massachusetts Amherst! Originally built in 1884, the multi-use space provides an area for students and faculty to host events, lectures, and performances. New systems were woven into the existing building fabric to ensure its preservation. Energy usage and sustainability were integral to the Old Chapel's renovation and achieved a 21% energy savings over Code, accomplishing a LEED Gold certification.
