David Solomon, our Director of Carbon Sales, attended VERGE last week—an event that provides opportunities for climate tech professionals to collaborate on strategies for integrating hashtag #climate solutions to decarbonize operations and supply chains. Don’t miss his key takeaways: 🌳 As businesses plan their upcoming climate action, they continue to realize the essential role carbon credits must play in achieving those goals in a timely manner. However, they are also increasingly discerning about what types of credits to invest in, with growing emphasis on high-quality, thoroughly verified projects that demonstrate legitimate impact and direct contribution to the fight against climate change. 🌳 Forest carbon offset buyers want strong transparency about the projects they invest in, seeking more direct relationships with the people and lands they are purchasing credits from, and reducing the number of layers between business and real climate impacts. 🌳 The interaction of tech and sustainability could not be stronger, with innovation, collaboration, and investment in the space only continuing to increase. This includes growing demand for forest carbon offsets as an important layer of climate action. #Verge2024 #sustainability #carbonmarket #innovation #naturalclimatesolutions

📷 Check out our new photos from the field! As seen here on an IFM project in Arkansas, our boots-on-the-ground approach to project verification is integral to our commitment to transparency, credibility, and compliance in every forest carbon project we develop. Nearly half of our staff hold forestry degrees, and some are also certified and/or registered professional foresters. They provide an on-site presence to ensure our project activities meet rigorous standards and are conducted with integrity. By maintaining direct involvement at every stage of the project's life cycle, we ensure that projects deliver on their promises, providing reliable carbon offsets and tangible benefits to both investors and the environment. These photos were taken by Matthew Smith, our Vice President of Forest Operations. #forestry #carbonmarket #forestcarbonoffset #naturalclimatesolutions #sustainablity

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day, a holiday honoring Indigenous people and cultures in America. Here at Finite Carbon, we are honored to work with Indigenous communities, helping them generate over 50 million forest carbon offsets since our founding in 2009. In September, we also achieved Bronze Level Certification in Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) from the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB), highlighting our commitment to supporting the prosperity of Indigenous communities. Enjoy this stunning photo of a significant Indigenous #IFM project in the state of #Maine. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #IndigenousLeadership #naturalclimatesolutions #forestry #carbonmarket

Exciting momentum around ACR at Winrock International’s open letter to future carbon credit buyers! At #climateweeknyc, ACR and a group of signatories released an open letter calling for companies to take greater responsibility for the emissions they cannot reduce by purchasing and retiring high-quality carbon credits. As of today, there are 46 signatories. Collectively, signatories stress the importance of investing in a diverse portfolio of credits, including nature-based solutions like carbon offsets, to reduce nature loss and maximize impact to local communities. Companies that are already utilizing carbon credits are 1.8 times more likely to be decarbonizing year-over-year, a key to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. The letter has been republished on ACR's website, and you can read it in its entirety here: #forestry #carbonmarket #naturalclimatesolutions

We had a wonderful and meaningful time the World Forestry Center’s CANOPY Conference in #Portland last week. Here are our team’s takeaways: ✅ Forest owners and managers have a growing awareness of the need for #climate risk mitigation and #biodiversity. They are learning that healthy, biodiverse forests are more resilient to the impacts of climate change, such as droughts, fires, pests, and diseases, making them more viable as a long-term investment. ✅ The continued development of robust #carbonmarkets can play a pivotal role in supporting #sustainable forest management. By making carbon a forest revenue return driver, forest owners are incentivized to adopt healthy management, resulting in more diverse ecosystems, better logs, and a higher quality of life. Thank you to the incredible team that made this event possible and to the forestry investment and natural climate solutions professionals who joined. It was a pleasure! #canopy2024 #forestry #naturalclimatesolutions #innovation Picture (L-R) Dylan Jenkins, Caitlin Guthrie, and Dylan Murray

Jacob Handel, our Director of Forest Carbon Origination, participated in the expert panel, "Recognizing and Respecting the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Sustainable Forestry Initiatives," at Forward Summit East last week. "The panel discussion was meaningful to me, as it touched on forestry, carbon markets, economic reconciliation and developing economic models that supports and prioritizes indigenous aspirations and desire to participate on a national scale. The dialogue was engaging, and I enjoyed hearing about and playing a role in uplifting the shared lived experiences related to Canada’s forests." - Jacob Handel #indigenousleadership #naturalclimatesolutions #forestry #carbonmarket

When our teammates headed to #portland this past week for the World Forestry Center’s annual CANOPY event, there was something that could not go unnoticed—the recent renovation of the mail terminal at Portland International Airport! Big shout-out to Vince Granato and his team at Port of Portland for a job incredibly well done. Vince explained at CANOPY, that in addition to carefully sourcing local timber for the refresh, they’ve even installed some live trees in the atrium! #innovation #leadership #forestry
