Two of our team members, Michaela Rosales, NBC-HWC and Pamela Peterson, along with our champion, Mrs. Sharene Brown, were thrilled to attend this year’s Association of Defense Communities (ADC) Installation Innovation Forum in San Antonio. At Five & Thrive, we embrace the importance of bringing together military leaders, community partners, and military spouses to address quality-of-life challenges using our Military Community Quality of Life Experience (QX) model. This model is designed to strengthen military families by enhancing their experience across critical areas, which, in turn, builds a stronger Total Force. The Military Spouses Lead the Way panel – featuring Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Patty George, and Mrs. Gina Allvin – highlighted the impactful role that military spouses play in developing solutions in childcare, education, healthcare, housing, and spouse employment. Connecting with leaders from all services allows us to understand the unique needs of each branch, working together to build communities where every military family can truly thrive. A special shoutout to Five & Thrive Ambassador Janet Driggers for mentoring ADC's newest cohort of milspouse advocates for military family quality of life.

We love inspiring examples of the QX model in action! During remarks at their grand opening, Community Readiness Specialist, Meg Hewes explained, “To make this happen we relied on a triad of support: the passion of our spouses, the welcoming arms of our community partners, and the backing of our leadership. When these forces align, real change happens. Today is a testament to what we can accomplish together.” Congratulations to Ramstein’s new Spouse Hub and thank you to all of those who came together to make it happen! We really are stronger together.

🎉 Yesterday was an awesome day for military spouses and families at Ramstein Air Base as the Military & Family Readiness Center officially cut the ribbon (with the big scissors) and opened the doors to the Spouse Hub! This welcoming, supportive space is a true embodiment of the Five & Thrive Military Community Quality-of-Life Experience (QX) model, which strives to elevate the lives of our military families through community and connection. The Spouse Hub is so much more than a room or gathering spot—it’s a powerful symbol of what can be achieved when military leaders, community partners, and military spouses work hand in hand to support our shared mission of family readiness and resilience. Overseas assignments bring unique challenges, often amplifying feelings of loneliness and isolation among military families who are oceans away from loved ones. Having this new hub right here at Ramstein makes such a difference, offering a special place where spouses can build friendships, find resources, and create lasting memories. To everyone involved in making the Spouse Hub a reality, *thank you*. Your commitment to military quality of life has built a cornerstone for connection, camaraderie, and community that will have a lasting impact. I can’t wait to see and hear about the ways this space becomes a haven of support, growth, and engagement for spouses in our local area. Here’s to more incredible spaces like this that help bridge the distance and build family strength! #RamsteinAirBase #RamsteinMFRC Dr. Julie Taufa’asau Meg Hewes Five & Thrive

For military spouses, balancing work and family life hinges on finding the right childcare resources. In our October SITREP, we explore childcare through the eyes of our military families. Shannon’s story highlights how essential childcare resources helped with employment, emphasizing that adequate care is crucial for balancing work and family obligations. When Shannon’s childcare needs spiked during her husband’s deployment, she turned to the Dependent Care Flexible Savings Account for help. By planning ahead, she found relief in managing care costs while working full-time. Military spouse career opportunities in tech just got a major boost! CNM Ingenuity, in partnership with NextFlex and the Kirtland Partnership Committee (KPC), has launched an 18-month pilot program designed to enhance career opportunities for military spouses while also meeting critical workforce needs in the tech sector!
